YES, BRACKETS MEAN THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL TEXT, BUT HAVE BEEN ADDED
The copy I have is Revision 1970. At the end of the Foreword it explains the brackets:
" [ ] Brackets enclose words inserted to complete the sense to the English text; [[ ]] suggest interpolations in original text."
The new version also has some more reference information in the back. I am not sure how useful it is as I have not looked at it but I know that it is there.
I don't get it.
The hardback version has brackets.
The paperback version has the same brackets.
Where exactly is the controversy?
the newest paperback version (released in the past yr or so) allegedly does not have the brackets. This has not been scanned and posted on here. If someone can scan Col 1:15-19 from the newest paperback version of the NWT that would be helpful.
sir82 is an active jw with access to the current pubs. isaac have you see the bracketless bible?
going off this thread, as well as the word of a friend of mine...
so no i have not personally seen this
I can not provide a scan.
The 2006 softcover NWT includes the word other but it is not bracketed in Col 1.
