I used to do the same thing casper!
If we got treat, seldom as we were dirt poor, I would save part of mine for later. My brother and sister would be wolfing theirs down. But I would take tiny nibbles and make it last.

I learned to do that the same way.........
I still can't eat a whole candy bar in one sitting, I break off pieces for a few days... Drives my family nuts...
I'm that way about alot of things.

I am so glad I'm not the only one!
I still do it too.
As a child, I probably would have taken the one piece now because somewhere in the back of my mind
I would have been thinking, "what if Armageddon comes before the end of the day, then I will have missed out on
all the goodies". (My JW conscience was well-trained from early on and this kind of stuff was always on my little mind.)
Best to get it while the gettin' is good, as they say.
Who did the study? It sounds bogus to me.
There are so many factors that contribute to mental illness and indebtedness, that it would be impossible to unilaterally associate them with childhood behavior.
Unhappiness, and overall success are such vague concepts that I doubt they would be factored in the results of a scientific study.
There must be more to it...
John, did you read about this in "Watching the World"?
wahoo - good news for me. I'm definitely in the second group. I used to make a pack of peanut M&M's last for ages. I'd let each one melt in my mouth until just the peanut was left.
Mini-Me's gone mental on account of the chocolate. It's like frickin catnip for clones!
I would take the two pieces at the end of the day, melt them down, put the chocolate in to a cow mold then wrap the chocolate in golden foil. Then I would worship it and make burnt offerings to it.
There was a documentary "Child of our Time" hosted by Professor Robert Winston that talked about it,among many other things, like what makes child geniuses etc. It was quite interesting
