Just thought I would take a look over at WOL. Then, I found this.

Of course, all the responses were what fantastic news this was.

Saturday Nov. 16 I was in service when I called at a man’s home. He refused the magazines. So follow the counsel from our latest Kingdom Ministry, I took the opportunity to share with him the new tract “Would You Like to Know More About the Bible?”
The title caught his attention right away. He told me he and his wife were frustrated with their church. They had been members for over 20 years and realized they knew next to nothing about the Bible. They were even thinking of quitting the church and joining another in hopes of learning more about the Bible. He said they had been praying for something to help them understand the Bible better.

I took a few minutes to cover the information with him in the tract and then I showed him the "Require” brochure. We went over a couple of paragraphs in Lesson 1, and since I had others in the car waiting for me I ask if I could return next week about the same time to cover some more information. He said that would be fine but ask if I had time to come back later that day to go over the brochure some more. Of course I said I would and we agreed upon 1:00pm.

When I arrived at the home with my wife, the man and his wife met us and invited us in. They had their brochures out and opened along with their Bibles and I could clearly see they had even underlined a few paragraphs. My wife and I ended up staying 4 hours and covering 6 of the lessons with them with their children sitting in on 4 of the lessons. They wanted us to stay longer but since we had other commitments I told them we had to leave, but I took time to invite them to the Kingdom Hall for the meeting on Sunday morning and we offered to pick up him, his wife and their children. They said they wanted to go and they’d be ready.

When my wife and I arrived to pick them up not only were they ready but they were standing outside waiting on us! When we arrived at the Kingdom Hall they were immediately greeted by everyone. They paid very close attention during the talk even looking up the scriptures in their own copies of the Bible. During the Watchtower Study they told me they were impressed how everyone, even the small children were having a share in the study. He told me at their church the adults go to listen to the minister while the kids were put in an activity room for them to play.

He then asked for the copy of the magazines he had refused the previous day and both he and his wife said they were very impressed with the friendliness of the brothers and sisters. He told me after my wife and I left on Saturday both he and his wife stayed up till midnight studying the Require Brochure and looking up the scriptures. He told me he and his wife learned more in one day with the witnesses then they had learned in 20 years at their church.

When we got to their home they asked if we had time to review more of the Brochure with them. We said we did and we covered another 5 lessons in the Brochure. Both he and his wife said they were so glad they had answered the door that Saturday morning.

He told me that normally when the witnesses called at their home they either pretended not to be at home or quickly let them know they were not interested. He told me he even recognized one of the friends at the hall he had been very rude to, to get rid of him. He told me that he was going to make it a point to apologize to him the next time he saw him.

Before my wife and I left they told us that after just these 2 studies they were convinced they had found the truth and were angry at their minister for not teaching them anything and telling them lies concerning Bible teaching and about Jehovah’s Witnesses. His minister had told his congregation to avoid Jehovah’s Witnesses at all cost since they were an evil sect that denied Christ and they would all burn in hell.

Before we left the wife started weeping and told us she was so happy that someone was finally helping them to understand the Bible. They told us that they and their children would be attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall from now on.

This needless to say has been a very encouraging experience and I and my wife are so happy we followed the “faithful slave’s” direction and offered the tract “Would You Like to Know More About the Bible?” I am going to make it a point to offer this new tract to everyone I meet.

Hmmm, the love bombing can still work, it seems.

I'm holding my stomach too, BTW!

I feel that this may be what "works" for this family at this particular point in their life. Unfortunately, it may take YEARS for them to feel the backlash... or maybe they will be one of the ones that really never feels they made a bad decision. As sick as this experience makes some feel, it does happen fairly often that people become interested and study. A close family member of mine is busybusybusy converting a young single-mom and her small daughter! I'm distressed about it... but what really could I say and still keep the peace?! I still can't believe that even nowadays... some studies are actually rejoicing that they cannot celebrated b-days, holidays, etc. anymore. Boggles my mind...

Yes, I have to admit how wonderful it is that they force small children to sit still in a seat and not make a sound for two hours. How I miss the days of telling my kids "quiet!" and dragging them to the bathroom for a spanking. Isn't that "impressive"?

Well, it won't be long 'till they wish they HAD ignored that knock at the door. I feel almost sorry for the poor sap who worte this...they really just don't get it.

I'd like a few hours of equal time with that couple! They'd be hurling split-pea soup in no time. That's all.

I don't know what kind of church he was going to but about all I've been to or know of at least have Sunday School or some other type of bible classes. Most churches have bible readings as part of their liturgy\readings. The liturgical cycle usually goes through the bible in three years. Doesn't sound like the guy or his wife tried very hard to take advantage of what their church had to offer in the way of bible classes. Sadly, many pastors just condemn and dismiss the WTBS as a cult instead of giving biblical reasons when asked about it.

Sounds like another Kingdom Ministry or a part on the Ministry meeting...a complete success story - or as they would have us believe it...

Haha, you guys DO believe everything you read on the net.

I don't (think) this even happened. It's made up to puff his pride online. Give me two minutes w/ him on yahoo and I'll get the real story.

The fact is, JWs have good answers to Bible questions. The trinity, immortal soul, hellfire, and so forth, are very easily knocked down. Why do people grow old and die? What is God's system of justice? What is the ransom and how can a person get everlasting life? Christendom isn't unique in its answers -- JWs are (for the most part). It's exciting to hear the 'good news' in such a manner. And, most religious anti-Witness critics have really no clue what JWs _really_ teach. They have read a couple of anti-Witness books and don't understand the material and so they look like idiots when the Witnesses show up with real arguments.

For the last year or so I've made it a practice to defend Witness beliefs against fundies, and I always win the debate. Every time. That's because at least JWism is founded on some pretty basic principles -- a three-headed god is absurd, when you die you're obviously dead, and what sense is there in creating the Earth and human beings if we're all destined to live in space?

Lets see how long they will last. I remember a young man, before he became a JW, he was a drug dealer. One day a couple of JW's called on him. He loved what he heard. And very quickly got baptised. As soon as they allowed him to he even pioneered. He went to all the meeting, assemblies, ect... He even met 4 times a day every day, with execption of meeting time. Now you must remember that his congeration is in a Kansas City. So they do go out alot anyhow. Then one day he just disapperared. Later I asked what had happen to him (I was not from his congeration, just visited every so often.) In short, the answer they gave me was that he got burned out. I've seen it quite often when I was a JW.
