Or misled. The apostle Paul himself made some stupid mistakes by mistaking Jesus' teachings literally. They were not supposed to be taken literally (the target audience was bicameral, and needed this kind of parable to become conscious thinkers).
On top of that, the Catholic church hand picked the books of the Bible that would suit its nefarious purposes when they started. They edited other passages out of the Bible or made alterations of key words. And that is the cornerstone of where all our Bible translations come from. It also makes viewing the Bible totally independent of religion extremely difficult for many people.
Notably, it was the early Catholic church by insisting on forcing everyone to obey God that started the world into the First Dark Ages. Everything was bound in laws. If there was a fact that happened to be faulty, altering it to fit reality would be against the law. People died trying. And, the Lords owned everything and everyone--all answerable to the Catholic church (in those days, there were no Protestant denominations).
Notably, the Washtowel Slaveholdery is trying to do the exact same thing. Given half a chance, they will also bind up knowledge into the law and seize control of everything and everyone. Already they have altered the Bible to suit their own needs.
Note that we do not need a Bible, let alone the Washtowel or Asleep, to determine if a volitional act is good, bad, or neutral for self or society.
