Huge Fire in Northern California - Only 4 Miles from My Son and Girlfriend

Well, it happened. Because of not getting virtually zero rain in Northern California in March, April and May - the fire conditions up here are tinderbox dry as if it were already in August in late summer ! The grasses in the foothills and manzanita bushes have been just itching to explode in flames ! And that is exactly what happened Wednesday between the towns of Chico where my son lives and the beautiful town of Paradise .

Apparently , some older guy was mowing his lawn and sparks flew and caught the foothills on fire- now as of Saturday morning the fire has grown to about 24,000 acres, covering virtually ALL the foothills east of Chico, and the connecting road between Chico and Paradise which goes about 10 miles is closed indefinitely till the fire crews get a handle on this disaster . Looking on the map of how much has burned- it appears about 5 or 6 miles of nice foothill land has burned to a crisp between Chico and Paradise ! They have about 3,000 people in crews fighting the fire, which is only 20 percent contained as the shifting winds are blowing every which way ! I called my son and he and his girlfriend are fine as they are 4 miles west of this immense blaze !

When I woke up this morning, although Mrs. Flipper and I live an hour and a half away east of my son, our sky was a grayish orange , looking almost cloudy with smell of smoke in the air. I hear about 50 homes have been lot , some injuries , about 10 or so, and thousands evacuated ! My wife and I are clearing any loose and down brush on our property to make it fire safe as well !

So- How about the rest of you in California, are you taking precautions to clear your properties to make it fire safe ? The authorities in our area in the Sierra mountains are actually handing out fines to people if they don't make their properties fire safe ! In South Lake Tahoe last year, it was disastrous because people refused to take down dead and dry low lying timber and shrubs on their properties. Over 200 homes were lost , hundreds of people homeless, and the cost was millions $$$ of dollars damages. So- word to the wise out west here- clear your home areas to make them fire safe ! What have you experienced ? Peace out to all, Mr. Flipper

They need to build an underground pipeline system throughout the whole USA, so that you can syphon off water from places like Idaho---which are presently under 3 or 4 feet of water, and channel it to places like California which is tinderbox dry all the time.

Expensive? Yep, but if you can afford a trillion dollars for a war no one wanted, then they could afford this........

    How terrible.

I know of a witness couple who moved to Paradise - Raine and Dante Musarra - does anyone know of them? I would like to contact them to find out how they are but do not have a number.

4 miles is not too far depending on the way the wind blows....

I'd pray for rain...but I'm not too good at it anymore.... Hope all

goes well in getting the fire out...

A man stuggles to save his Jacuzzi from raging wild fires .

When he was asked why the JACuzzi he replied "Well it's sort of personal"

So sorry flipper....fires are so devastating. I was just in Durango the other day and there was a fire nearby that in a few hours filled the town with smoke so much you couldn't see in front of you.

I was living in Glenwood Springs, Colorado when the Storm King Mountain fire happened in 1995...14 firefighters died....I hate fires.

Thinking of your and your family today

    Hey, Mr. Flipper:

Hope your son's OK. I woke up to what you did. It was cool and damp and I thought sleepily, "Oh! rain ..." I came to and saw that it was smoke and went to a California fires webpage and found the Humboldt Fire - is that it?

I have friends near the Martin Fire (Bonny Doon).

    Take care ...

    Man gets stuck in JACuzzi

A man who wishes to remain anonymous got stuck in his jacuzzi today. During some sexual lusty encounter he got his you know what stuck in the drain pipe outlet and had to call 911. The paramedics packed it in dry ice to reduce the swelling so he could be freed.
