4 miles inbetween a wildfire is little consolation...as long as there are evacuation notices in order, I'm sure your son knows better than to hang around.
If the wind drives west, there's really not much inbetween him and the fire. Even less so if he lives on the east side of town. It appears the fire has a channel to march downhill in the form of the Butte Creek canyon.
Best of luck to him.
U didn't know?...Armegeddon is here. See ya paradise! j/k stay safe ... flippers need water to survive
Hey, Mr. Flipper...
Sorry to hear your son is so close. I've got a few friends up there...used to live there myself. I'm a Chicoan but actually live a little north now. This fire has been just waiting to happen. There are many similarities to the Oakland Fire a few years ago. Lots of dry fuel, even fewer escape routes...and Lostas old folks. I hope they can get a handle on it soon. See you in Tahoe soon right?!

I woke up this morning to a blood red sun (Sacramento area). You could be right
It was beautiful, but knowing what caused it made me sad. I have
friends in Paradise and Chico. I will be praying for all of those in that area.
Love and hugs,
Velta
I will spray for you.
What a small spark it takes to make a wildfire! So some old guy was mowing his lawn, and it sparked the fire? What was there to mow?
Anyhow I hope your son and his girlfriend can stay safe until the fire goes down.
Between the floods in Iowa and these wildfires, it's been a hellacious month of June.
Wise advice Mr. Flipper. Sending good thoughts your way for your son and all living in those areas.
And to all the firefighters...my nephew was sent up there Thursday to work the fire.
Thanks for all the kind replies. It is appreciated.
1914 BS- Me - Have a jacuzzi ? I wish ! In my dreams ! LOL! I'd love to lust with my wife in a jacuzzi if I owned one ! LOL!
MARY- Very true. The government can afford a war killing it's young people - but can't afford to invest money to protect it's citizen's from natural disasters like fires , floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Their priorities are seriously skewed.
SWEET PEA- I don't know of the couple you mentioned who live in Paradise. I have only visited there on vacations- don't know anybody there. Thanks for your thoughts.
HOPE 4 OTHERS- Thanks for the thoughts. My son lives on the west side of Chico away from the fire which is burning east of Chico. And the winds are blowing away to the east towards Paradise. So I think he and his girlfriend will be alright.
WINGS- Thanks for the kind words. I remember hearing about that Storm King mountain fire in Colorado you mentioned being really horrible ! 14 firefighters died ! How tragic !
COCO- I think my son will be O.K. They live in west Chicoaway from where the fire is burning. Yes, it is called the " Humboldt fire " I believe. I agree that some dead trees as well as bushes should be removed .
CHANGELING- Thanks for the kindness.
CASPER - Yes. I can imagine it's floods and tornadoes out where you live - out in California it's fires and earthquakes ! Crazy. Thanks.
SIR NOSE- Since my son lives in West Chico- the fires would have to burn the entire city of Chico down to get to him. Luckily the fire continues to burn eastward ; but I'm sure that's no comfort to the people living east in Paradise ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
WAC- Yeah, I hear you ! We dolphins get dried out pretty easy. We stay wet constantly to avoid such things.
BONEZZ- Hey Bonezz ! You lived in Chico ? Then you know the terrain there how dry it can get with the high grasses in the area ! There are lots of older folks in Paradise especially, and some in Chico- I hope they stop the fire soon. Yes indeed, we will see you in 3 weeks in South Lake Tahoe ! Should be fun !
ELIVELETH- Hello Velta- So you saw the same smoky sky that CoCo, Mrs. Flipper and myself saw this morning? I hope your prayers work for the folks up there in Chico and Paradise - they are gonna need it !
GREGOR- I'd love you to spray for us ! Come on down and fly a plane or helicopter and spray the hell out of the fire, will you ?
GOPHER- It is hard to believe the guy started it with a spark from his lawnmower - however everything is SO DRY here- and in the country areas here in California, there is a lot of high, dry grass lands in the forested and open country areas . All it takes is one idiot throwing a cigarette butt out a car window and it could light up a few miles on fire really quick ! It has been a natural disaster month from hell - you are right ! For lots of folks !
DAGNEY- Thanks Dagney for the kind words. I hope your nephew is very careful going up there to fight this fire ! It seems like a stubborn fire. I'm sure it will take a lot of manpower and womanpower to put it out completely ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
