I compare the Watchtower to Klingons. No matter how much you try to wipe them away, they stay tangled up and irritating, a constant pain in the butt!!!

In my area I know of at least one elder and his son were Trekkies.

The elder was always going on about space travel after the 1,000 year reign.

Ah, the puffy Riker. I do like his films.

In the alternate universe would evil Riker be clean shaven? I suppose in the first season evil Riker could have a goatee.

V--Love the WT Borg pic. How can I get a copy? Anyway, I never watch ST until I got married. As a matter of fact, I made fun of anybody who watched ST and wouldn't go out with a guy once because he was a Trekkie. Then along came Voyager. I saw it in reruns only. I love 7 of 9. The first three seasons with Kes are annoying but I love the ones with Seven. My ex- (a JW elder) says he likes the ST with the Borg. I thought, of course you do! You can relate! But I'm surprised the JWs didn't notice that you could really see Gene Roddenberry's dislike for christianity in his TV series. I'd have thought that would have put them off it. It is hypocritical of them to say "No Star Wars" because the Force is a supernatural practice when Vulcans do mind melds and there are lots of other races on ST that are telepaths, like betazoids. I think I like Seven because, no matter what she does, she will always be an outsider because of her Borg experience, and I can relate to that. No born-in JW will ever be able to be "normal." StAnn

In 1989 or so, I was with a Circuit Overseer and his wife -- on field serivce break at McDonalds. He asked me if I was familiar with Star Trek - The Next Generation, and I said yes. He proceeded to discuss its characters and certain events on the show for the next 15 minutes or so. It was the most excited I'd ever seen the man.

If any of those elders or circuit overseers mentioned in this thread thought that Star Trek, TNG, DS9, Voyager, or STE, had anything to do with witlesses conquering the galaxy and going to other planets after everybody else on Earth had been destroyed in the armageddon fairy tale, they are totally deluded.

Gene Roddenberry's vision was of a time when humans had finally conquered self destructive institutions such as religion, politics. His vision was also of a time when most diseases have been conquered, and no poverty, crime or war on Earth. There is no longer even any money on Earth. Humans had gotten to the point where each person was encouraged to "Make the most of themselves" as brought out in the TNG episode entitled: "The Neutral Zone".

His vision was also of a time when humans of all races and backgrounds go to other planets and live on those planets, as well as mingling with other types of beings. If the elders and circuit overseers mentioned in this thread had payed close attention to the themes and messages in the Star Trek series, they would have been able to see that because of the progress portrayed in those series, the watchtower society or even witlesses cannot even possibly exist at that time, much less being rewarded with being the only people 'favored' by some nonexistent entity called "god" to populate other planets.

I am a former elder and I was always into Star Trek because of the fact that it portrays the time when humans have finally stopped allowing self-destructive institutions, (such as cults like the watchtower), and attitudes to rule their lives. Star Trek always gave me a sense of comfort even while in the org. I don't think I was ever really a part of the collective.

I think Shamus needs assimilating. He is not of our sort. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
