I was discussing this with my parents tonight. My reasoning was 'How can you decide that the creation account in the first chapter is not to be taken literally because it would be stupid to believe the world/universe was created in 6 literal days, and yet turn the page and start to believe it's all to be taken literally, there really was a talking snake etc.'

Do you believe the story of Adam and Eve? Why or why not?

Adam and Eve is an account of the original human couple and all of humanity. How did humans become imperfect by GOD or satan? Who originated the Tree of the "Knowledge of God and Evil"? GOD 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." satan 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" 10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid." 11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?" 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,
"Cursed are you above all the livestock
    and all the wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
    and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.

15 And I will put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring [a] and hers;
he will crush [b] your head,
and you will strike his heel."

GOD told Adam and Eve that if they ate from the tree, meaning if they chose to do evil they would die. He did not say He would cause them to die. What is it that GOD did? He increased the pains of pregnancy and made the women yearn for the husband meaning that womens emotion would increase in intensity. There was a reason for this does anyone know why?

What is "satans" seed or offsrping? Does satan have offspring upon the earth?

The story of Adam and Eve is a story spoken many years ago when knowledge of the world we live was very vague,

and human ignorance was the social norm and accepted, in some ways yes it was a true story but with a cause and reason attached to it.

Was evaporation a science or a natural observation, not just known in the middle east to be sure

I used to believe the story, but I am much better now. NO.

The creation story has been demonstrated to be a jumble of
    two stories.

Able sacrificed the fatty part of his flock to God at a time before
people ate meat at all. It was clearly a message from the
writer(s)/editor(s) to sacrifice so they can eat the best part of the
    meat.

The serpent didn't lie to Eve. The message was supposed to be
completely different from what we are told today.

How about Adam not finding a suitable partner among the animals?
Did he try them out? Oh, I can't type the rest of that thought.

4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created.
When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth [ c ] and there was no man to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground-

Notice how the "Bible" says that streams came up from the earth, meaning that an evaporation occurred which then caused it to rain. Man thought the earth was "Flat" don't you recall?

How long does it take for "One" tree to grow? Does it grow overnight? Everything was set forth in "Time Periods" such as one day and one night or 24 hours. It makes sense that one day is equal to one thousand years as written in the bible. Gold takes a "Long" time to form and there was gold as written.
