Spread your wings and fly! Best wishes to you.
There will still be those here to help those who have been exploited and harmed by the WTB&TS, which IS an evil enterprise.

"However, i feel at the moment that to join with discussions on here i am just going around in a circle. I have done enough WT bashing over the years and no longer feel i want to join in with these discussions."
Healing has taken place. Looks like you are moving right along on your own path.
Wishing you only the best~
Peace to you.
Good luck with the degree and your sobriety.

Paul...I certainly understand why you no longer like the feeling of "bashing" the WTS. I thought I'd just make a few points...
The idea that 587 is very well supported (much more so than 607) does not mean we should necessarily be bashers of the WTS.
The idea that there may be "evil JWs" does not mean we should be bashers of the WTS.
The fact that they changed on a dime their position on "generation" does not necessarily mean we should be bashers of the WTS.
The fact that many JWs are "sincere people" and that the WTS may have been "sincere in making the mistakes they have," might separate them from people or groups who are obviously and avowedly evil. But it does not mean that they are not a dangerous organization.
I've often wrestled with the idea that they may be more "sick" than "evil." But regardless, it's a very good idea for us to warn others not to fall into their arms--and to be supportive of those who've been cast off by friends and family for merely admitting they don't think it's The Truth anymore. And it's worth considering that, just because someone starts out well intentioned, does not mean we can rationalize what they've become, if we find that their efforts to minimize their sins, protect themselves and magnify their authority have resulted in the oppression of those whose loyalty they demand through threat.
But I'm primarily suggesting that, while many here do 'jump on the bashing bandwagon,' it is not necessary that we do so in order to take part in this forum. For some this is a place to let their pain and anger bleed into cyberspace. For some it's a place to find connection with people who understand their bizarre stories. For some it's a place to try and help others cope with their difficulties, while being helped themselves.
I wish you well.
At least with JWD you know that you won't be shunned. Best wishes to you on defeating the alcoholism and studying law. As for proof of the new light on elders and higher education, from what I understand, the directive is contained in the co's outline and not in a letter. However, just this morning, I found 2007 talks on YouTube that very much suggests that higher education is unnecessary and risky. Here they are:

I see where you are coming from.
I never came here to simply JW bash nor to get angry, and while I know there are a few that do I tend to think that the general atmosphere is engaging and sometimes rewarding. I first started to come because I was an active JW, quickly learning the errors found within the organization. Why do I continue to come? I enjoy discussion and analysis of Watchtower policies and teachings. I find it an interesting debate and enjoy engaging in it. This isn't a release for me to rail on my past experiences.
I tend to view this board as something I participate in when I choose to. Sometimes I'm not on here for a few weeks or even months. But I still enjoy the debate and continue to come back. Maybe you will too.
