    I'm with Caedes.

I've always said it doesn't matter what they change, what the color of the fog is or what flavor kool-aid. There is a core of believers who have bought the "we're the faithful slave speaking for the great jehovah" who will always, always believe everything that's printed in the wt, rumored, mentioned at the assembly or by the co, po, whatever. It would be nice if the borg dwindled to that small core.

Invisible growth? Maybe the invisible sexual abuse victims are invisibly coming back.

Good. I hope that, out of the 7,000,001 reported publishers in the next circus report for 2008, most of them are "invisible". And I hope the report itself is invisible, since I want to see a visible decline in the congregations.

Perhaps a decline back to the levels that Charles Taze Russell found it back in 1874 would do.

I think I understand the expression, "Invisible Growth." It's what I have seen in the past several years as the number of JWs (as published by JWs themselves) continues to climb from a little over 6 million. Now I see the WTS is claiming a membership of 7 million. Yet all the anecdotal evidence I see (in the United States) is that KH attendance is way off, the number of congregations is not growing, and the attendance at dub meetings is about the same as it was 10-15 years ago. A lot of people have left. They've been replaced mostly by dub kids growing up and getting baptized.

If it weren't for the impact of immigration of Hispanics to the U.S., there would be negative growth in California and several other western states. In this, the WTS is a lot like cigarette companies: Having suffered dramatic sales decreases in the western world, they have simply grown the market in the Third World. When the third-world population wises up, they'll have nowhere to go.

Maybe they are referring to the "faders" who wish to or are becoming "invisible". There is much growth in that area.

The number of JWs that are invisible is growing. They are no longer seen at kingdom halls. We know them as faders.

edited to say: Damn, I thought I was being original. I really need to stop answering the phone here. It's interfering with the more important things.

    Willy,

I agree with your conclusion. I might point out, also, that third world growth has a very low monetary yield and a very poor real estate picture.

I've said it before - the world population is growing in leaps and bounds. Yet the dubs numbers are not. Correlate the world population with the growth in witnesses and I think you would see that line go way down. And how long do these new people stay? Not long - trust me on that one.

I wonder if one could turn in a time slip and claim that they're conducting an 'invisible' study? That might be interesting...
