the last couple of years I was an elder, my favorite place to go for a nice long break from field circus? H O M E.... Yep... I would make a token showing (sometimes going out in the early morning Waste of Time (aka Laundromat witnessing) from 7-9) then get the group out at 9..and by 920..I had driven home and gotten into t-shirt and jeans.... I lived waaaay out of their territory, so no chance anyone in my congo happening to drop by or see where I had really gone.... (I usually told the group I had a RV to get to and it would take awhile...maybe I would meet them at break.......and that the RV was kinda shy.......something not trackable)

If I was forced to go out in the circus.... it seemed like Hardee's (aka Carl Jr's on the West Coast) was where the groups would go for breakfast....which bled into lunch.... who orders a 2/3 # Thickburger Combo at 1030 in the morning? geeeshh.... if I was fortunate, I could talk the group into going to my favorite bakery cafe (an independent where the coffee was good and the baked goods better....and had a good deli selection of sandwhiches and soups.). The last 2 COs and their wives loved the place.... 45 miin would evaporate in no time....lol

The worst? There was a bar in this little rural town called (and I risk my ID here, but it is too good to pass up)..The Yellow Dog Saloon... I kid you not... this old elder insisted he wanted his coffee and it was too far to drive back to Hardee's.........this place had the worstsludgecoffee I have ever had....and the waitress? WAS A DF SISTER he had been on her JC....LMAO..... She was polite and called him "Mr. {last name}".

sigh....glad I aint doing it anymore

I lived in a rural area, and there weren't many my age, so we'd always get together on a Saturday morning and make sure we worked together. There was a resturant out on the hwy called Teddy Bear or Teddys - something like that, in an old house. We had to drive to get there (it was rural territory, you drove everywhere lol), and they weren't the fastest servers, so it was a good way to use up our time. We'd always take our break there so Gordon could get his French Fries and gravy lol. So Gordon, Adrian, Michelle, and Michael, if you are reading this, you know who I am lol.

I remember the Bloor/Runnymede location and then later seeing the Kipling location years ago. I didn't know it was a chain of restaurants... I'll have to go someday! But seriously, that is where you went for a break… WOW.

Yeah, me, a MS and the service overseer used to go all the time. Sometimes we went directly from the group, telling others we were going on "return visits".

I was at the Bloor/Runnymede location a few times. It's not a big chain, just a few stores owned by the same guy.

You’re kidding me right. You know, I almost wish I had done a legit fade... at least then I would have been able to BS my way through it all and had a little fun at it too.

(banging my head against the wall saying ‘stupid, stupid, stupid) I was so gullible when I was in.

I always preferred the sit down places where you were waited on at your table, as opposed to fast food. I could always count on being in those places about an hour, longer depending on who was in my group.

Nope, not kidding. The SO's name was Pasternak. His dad was PO and his uncle was a CO. That only went on in the summer of '94. Then the rest of the elders found out and spoiled it all.

I recall convenience stores with bench seats, jo jo potatoes, and videogames. In another state it was an expensive bagel store for the well-to-do vs. Mickey D's for everyone else.
