All my years of camping , hiking, yard work and gardening and NOW I get a poison ivy rash .(One week away from our vacation .) I am all itchy , scratchy and down right bitchy right now . I wish I could take a rock and scratch my arms with it .

I did yard work all day Tuesday and woke up yesterday to what appeared to be several bug bites on my forearm .......that has now turned into blisters ,rash , more "bug bite" type sites and is up and down both arms . Itches something fierce . At this moment I am painted pink with Calomine lotion and wozy from Benydryl tablets .

Any remedies that really work out there that are tried and true ? Also how long is this going to last ....I read it could go on for three weeks PLEASE tell me this is not so !

The doctor can give you a shot that will clear it up in a day.

I had it last month, and I used calamine and went to the store and bought Aveeno bath packets. They contain powdered oatmeal, and it dries out the sores. Seemed to help with the itching. Hope it goes away soon.

    PS- DON"T SCRATCH!!!

that would be cortisone...prednisone tablets will do it too....but aqua amonia is amazing as well........as is icy hot...skin can not transmit two signals at once....so confuse it with something else....even ice works......oompa

I've had a couple of terrible bouts with poison ivy, and trust me, there is NO shot that will clear it up in a day!!

A friend had it recently, and she said she poured laundry bleach on it and it cleared up really quickly. Worth a try.

I've also heard getting in a shower and pouring vinegar over the area. Not sure if white or applecider vinegar??? Not sure if it works either....
