My first reply was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

I think the fun part left when most Blacks "moved on up" a la The Jeffersons' theme song.

Once you get the 5 BR, 3.5 bath French traditional on a cul-de-sac, the kids in private school, and a 3-hour daily commute, you don't have time to think, let alone act.

Our success has also been our undoing.

What about Chris Tucker? I think he is hillarious.

Ok, yeah... John Leguzamo is actually good. I went to his last local show. He's more of a Puerto Rican/New Yorker though, right?

I can't choose comics based on race/gender. I think if you are funny, you are funny. Those that pander to a genre loose steam pretty fast with me since I don't like to play culture flash.

Those that appeal to wider audiences usually stick around a long time. And I agree that stand-ups should do stand-up.

Maybe it's the Chicanos/Tejanos you're not "feeling", ese?

Is Puerto Rican considered Hispanic? Latino?

    Definitely.

Then there is what is known as nuyorican or new yorican.

The Puerto Rican/ Dominican/ Cuban perspective and sense of humor is vastly different from the Mexican/ Central American.

Chicano/ Tejano is yet another world.

Almost as different as White and Black.

I like Mike Epps, Cedric the Entertainer, and Martin Lawrence. So I rented "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins". Didn't laugh once.

I like Tracey Morgan and Ice Cube. So I rented "First Sunday". It was even worse than "Roscoe".

What's wrong with black comedians? When did they stop being funny?

There are a lot of "black" comedians who are funny. Thanks for pointing out the nonwhiteness of people, and helping others to always remain aware that those with darker skin tones than you are meant to be labeled and different.

Q:When did some comedies starring black comedians stop being funny? A: When there was no longer a need to act like a total buffoon just to be allowed to make a movie and have brown skin at the same time. I would say that post 2000ish, that need dispersed.

Since it's 2008, I have to question just why on earth would you go and rent those simple-minded films to begin with? The egregious scenes in the commercials were enough to make me say, "Why are you doing this to yourself and to others?!"
