Tired of the Hypocrisy
I have a friend that I have known since I was in fourth grade. We im'd last night on yahoo after a few months of little contact because of work. The shoe was on the other foot so to speak as I told him what I remembered about him and his family. My friend is a non-denominational Christian who is very much against the idea of organizational religion being true to God. I told him that after all these years I respect him and his folks especially because of their devotion to truth and to Christ.
He and I have been thru hell together. When we were young men we drank, gambled and humped with the best of them. We also cussed and fought like sailors, and many times fought back to back to defend our big mouths! LOL But after all was said and done, what I recall most of my friend is his strength of faith and his character to be able to speak the truth.

Then you also know that the small town nearby 'Tow' isn't pronounced 'toe'... it's 'tau' - like 'cow'.
I got caught on that one... once. Got corrected, too.

Well... it gets better than that. You see, the last few days I was there, I had told everyone I was leaving and said my goodbyes to all of the other employees. They thought the manager was a jerk (and the fella that he believed - and that said I wasn't cooperating with his 'time clock' type thingo - which was a lie), and so no one bothered to tell him I wouldn't be there.
The other thing was - no one lived locally in that town, and on the weekends, they went home to their families. (So - when he found out his station wasn't on the air, he couldn't just call someone to go in - he had to do it himself.)
Lastly, the evening DJ - a high school kid they had hired to spin the records, he asked me what my favorite song was on the Friday evening I left - and he would play it for me. I told him, "'Take this job and shove it', by Johnny Paycheck".
As I was at the filling station, putting gas into my VW beetle, I had my radio on and heard him dedicate the song to me.
...and still the manager didn't know.
