    Billygoat:

Let me add my comments to a long thread of congratulations! I am sorry to hear about your family, I know this hurts a great deal. Trust me though, the pain does ease up as you find yourself and believe in who you are and what you do. From your story, you are well on the road. You found something really wonderful and thank you for sharing it with us.

    Andi,

Thanks. What is wrong with being sappy? I posted my thoughts on Thanksgiving in my sappy way earlier. It doesn't matter who you credit for the good things in life just being thankful is important. It has taken me a long time to appreciate the small things in life and I know what it is like to strain family relationships and why families (having been adopted into a new family) are important.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reflections on Thanksgiving. I am glad you find comfort and solace by sharing on this board. I know I do.

    Best wishes to you,

    Thirdson

Thank you everyone for all the hugs and encouragement! Y'all are more awesome than awesome can describe! This weekend truly has been such a great time. I know I've gained about 10 pounds and had more than my fill of pie and other goodies I shouldn't eat. But what the hey! This special weekend only comes once a year right?!

I also cooked two batches of my ultra good pecan cookies.
For a moment I thought this read "pagan cookies". (((()))) I want the recipe!!!

Love to you and your families,

    Andi

PS: If you're willing to exchange holiday cards, email me and let me know. (Send me your snail mail addy!) I plan on being a total pagan and sending out as many Christmas cards as I can. Bwahahahaa!

What a lovely woman you are with a gift for touching people's
lives. I am very sorry that you have to deal with the devastating
    emotions of altered family relationships.

I continually find it incredible that once a person stops "living" as one
of Jehovah's Witnesses they are perceived as an entirely different
    person! It is beyond sad.

    You said: " As ex-JW’s we’ve
learned the heartache of broken families, marriages, and hearts. Not from just witnessing others experiences, but from
our very own. We know that every breath is precious. We understand the contagion of a child’s belly laugh. We
understand the sweet softness of a dog’s fuzzy ears. We know the deep comfort of a friend’s hug and kiss. We know
how special it is to enjoy life to the fullest - the joys and heartaches alike. We know all these things because we were
starved from it for so many years. Starved and malnourished we were. But now we are free. Free to eat of Life and all
it’s fruits. Whether we believe in God or not, we have much to be thankful for."

    How TRUE. Beautifully expressed.
    Thank YOU for that!

Thank you so much! This holiday has been a very positive experience for me. I have much to be thankful for! I hope you can have a positive holiday this year too! It's the spirit of the celebration not so much the activities or presents.

    Love,

I remembered writing this last year and the heartful of thankfulness I felt at that time in my life. I'm still feeling it and thought I'd just share these thoughts with you again. Hope you don't mind me bumping this to the top again...even though it's from last year!

    Hugs to everyone!

    Andi
