Our 46 pound turkey was wonderful. I put it in the oven Wednesday night at 5PM, and at 7:30 AM, it was done (250 degrees). I was in a major panic. It was supposed to be 200 degrees, but my oven thermostat was off, and while the dial said 200, the inside oven thermometer said 250. We kept it warm, at 150 all day, and it was so moist and juicy, when we ate at 2:30. There were leftovers for everyone to take home for dinner today. (we had 16 people here) I still have a HUGE roaster full of meat, and two quarts of gravy, which was soooo good!! And two big casseroles of potatoes, stuffing, turkey and gravy. YUMMMY!!

And YES, Puget Sound is so beautiful, and it stopped raining today, finally.

By the way, I had to borrow a commercial sized roasting pan, and take out the lower rack in the oven, or that bird wouldn't have fit. I made a big plastic garbage bag full of stuffing and all but one quart fit inside the bird. It was quite a turkey. I took photos and will post when I get them back. No one will believe this one!!

    Mulan,

    My Lord, 46lbs!!!
Are you sure that was a turkey you cooked and not a small horse or something?
I didn't know they got that big.
Maybe that one was on steroids.
I cooked a 20 pounder and thought it was big.
Now I find out mine was just a shrimp.

Sounds like yall had a great time.I'm glad.

Yep!! Our daughter's in laws raised it and contributed it for our dinner. Before we put it in the oven, Dave stepped on the scale with it.

In chat the other night, Makena called it a teradactyl!
