Hi all, I had to share this little tidbit I just learned of this week.

My elderly and disbaled father in law as you may remember is married to one Grade - A bitch of an abusive wife/regular pioneer. She has been going three times per week to a variety of different local churches and collecting bread from their food-for-the-poor programs. Now she is not poor. She stuffs the bread into her freezer and hoards the canned goods into boxes and has them in all the closets, storage, garage and is now cluttering even the living spaces of their home with the food. When she told me and my wife to go with her, we told her no thanks, because we are not so poor that we need to take food out of the mouths of people less fortunate than ourselves for the purpose of hoarding.

My father in law has been opposed to this behavior since he learned of it and she has ignored his requests, demands, and orders to stop. His argument is not so much that they don't need the food, as it is the idea of her going to the temples of Babylon the Great to get the bread and other foods. He tells her but she justifies it saying that the elders' wives go so it is ok. He has cited scripture and even publications that discourage and even forbid the touching of anything of the unclean thing.

Anyways, they took a trip out to the coast on Sunday and spent some time at a congo that his 92 year old father attends. He was discussing the wt study and other things with the wt conductor when she asked if the elders knew of any food closets she could visit before their return home. Well my FIL told her that if it isn't appropriate to go to them at home, it is much less than appropriate to do so as a visitor. She got up on her hind legs and made a scene at the hall. My FIL remained calm and cited the scripturesagain and then used page 266 paragraph 26 of the Revelation book. She got mad and just seethed at him.

Then the wt conductor piped in and told her, "Sister, your husband is right. He is right because he didn't give you a personal opinion, he cited what the fds has written down for us." My FIL told me this and didn't even consider how powerful a statement the elder had made. I redirected his attention to it and he was a little lost for a moment when I pointed out how I thought it was shameful that the elder didn't even mention the biblical references that he had made to back his side of the issue. What was important to the elder was the use of the written word of the fds.

Imagine that. The fds difinitively has more authority than the Word of Almighty God.

Another seed planted.......Any ideas on how I can take this to the next level?

    Hi Tired,

She does have a few screws loose, and a total lack of self control, I don't understand why they are not pulling her to the

back and counseling her. And talking to your step dad about any issues that need worked out here. Geez maybe we all need to

send those letters we use to write, like to Malawi, Dear Sirs, We a shocked and dismayed by the abusive actions,,,,la la la to their

congregation, she needs to be put in her place big time. Sorry "Tired" for what you have to deal with here. Unless Dad complains I don't

know what can be done. You could write the Society to stir things up........you know Gods rep's on earth and all. Maybe they could convey that for you.

I don't have anything useful to share as far as your question, but this story has left my jaw hanging open! It is astonishing to me that these people are wrestling over whether or not this is appropriate based on what scriptures might say, or what the F&DS might say -- ummmm it's not appropriate by ANY standards at all, and it shouldn't take "instruction" to know that!

This woman is trawling food banks and essentially stealing and hoarding food that is meant for those who genuinely need it, when she does not. This is wrong and disgusting all by itself! The fact that they don't get this at all speaks volumes, so good luck waking them up to much else if they can't grasp this very simple and basic concept.

I'm sorry for your situation, I don't know how you hold your sanity having to deal with this kind of crap. Every time I think I have way too much JW craziness strangling me in my own life, I read something like this and realize it could be way worse. My two cents though, if your FIL doesn't see all of the other million things that are wrong with this scenario, I doubt the comment about the "slave's" ranking over God is going to help much.

How the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger can justify someone going to the food banks and tying up the food that others need, when there is no intention of actually consuming it What a waste of food!

Her behavior is embaressing on so many levels - especially that she doesn't need it.

This is so beyond disgusting. If nothing else stops her, tell her it is a great story for people like me who use these stories in anti witnessing.

Excellent point on the value placed on the FDS. Blondie has noticed an interesting feature of the manufactured bible stories used in WT plays the past few years. The society so far has been careful to not put these in print. Might it be that they may need deniability later? I've even heard an elder refer to the Timothy play in his talk, while admonishing the youth to put aside any ambitions for college or a great career. Now, I dare you to find any reference to Timothy avoiding higher education or a prosperous career in the bible. He may be educated or not, wealthy or not. We don't know. The bible is silent on that point. But not the society, apparently.

As for your (mother in law?), I think she has a compulsion, a disorder. She's a hoarder of some sort, and she probably needs medical intervention to stop.

What a great image! Still laughing. Have nothing else to add except that maybe you and your father-in-law could conduct a raid when the wife is out, clean out the closets and give everything back to the food bank. Maybe that's too extreme. The wife might start rearing up and lashing out with her hooves when she finds her precious food gone.
