went to the elememtary school where
3 of my kids were and took a NWT
and reassured them that if this was
the beginning of the tribulation
ushering in the "big A", we were going to be ok.......

I liked pictures of bones and skeletons. Morbidly so. My JW grandmother used to get upset with my mother for allowing me to look at all the gruesome pictures. They got into a fight over it. What gives? I though all JWs want little kids to be scared. My mother thought it was good to look at all the death and destruction illustrations. Grandmother thought I should be focused on petting the lions in the New Order. She thought that might have greater appeal to me.
I remember the Paradise book. It was promptly taken away from me once My Book of Bible Stories came out.
Funny, 9/11 didn't have the Armageddon effect on me. Perhaps I had been out long enough.
As a child during the Cuban missile crisis, I thought that was surely the end. As I recall, I believed hiding under a table would actually save me.

I remember that too, I had only been Baptized for 2 years, it scared me to death....

It's all quite perfect. In the Orwellian world of the JWs, you're in a constant state of fear and panic because of the Doublethink
War = End is close
Peace = End is close
So no matter what is going on or where, Armageddon is right behind it.
Also, don't forget being told that one day all the JWs were going to be rounded up and put in concentration camps.
Everyone was going to be given very little food and made to work in the fields all day.
An elder who told me this is now 85 years of age. I don't think he would last long in the fields!

The JWs love to imagine being persecuted, gives them something to look forward to I guess.
