As someone who has been fabricating granite and marble countertops for over ten years I have to say I wouldn't worry about radon. Most of the stories on radon have been pushed by the competing solid surface industry. There may be some pockets of low level radon at times but I doubt you need to worry. If you want you could always get a radon detector or ask the fabrication company to check levels for you in a stone you are interested in. So far I haven't gotten cancer and I have been very exposed to this stuff. In my opinion stone is great, lots of variety's and very durable. After all, look at all the stone still standing in Italy. You will want to ask all the pertinent questions to the company you go with but you have gotten some good answers here already. If you are in S.E. Wisconsin p.m. me. I can recommend a good company to go with...
