That's it. AK-Jeff took a chance with me when I was still fairly new.
He agreed to meet with me, we shared phone numbers. After that,
I wasn't so new and continued to meet with JWD'ers and get and
give phone numbers. If that's too much for some, get an email
address and reach out to someone.

Regardless of what replaces JWD or what site becomes stronger
as JWD posters go over there, I may not make it there. I may be
content to start the process of moving on with a life outside of the
forum. But I will cultivate the great friendships I have started here.

Who better understands the problems that coming out of the Borg
involves than others who have done it? It's been a great aid to me.

I feel it has often been a power thing with Simon, and although I think some people were out of order, we all know there were certain excellent posters who were banned from here simply because they didn't play by his rules.

It just demonstrates how little you know. All the rules are designed to make the site run smoothly which relies on people cooperating and following them. It isn't a lot to ask so anyone banned for not following them only has themselves to blame.

    We appreciate the sentiments Jeff!

It is not a power thing? That's great. I look forward to finding out who you plan to pass the site on to in that case.

Thanks Jeff, we really appreciate your (and everyone elses) kind comments.

No it isnt a power things at all, don't you think we have considered this? One reason it would be very difficult is due to the forum software being custom, there are many other reasons that we have gone over. Simon would be able to explain them better than I can. There will be other boards and some will likely come and go but eventually there will be another JWD that will grow to replace this one and will become established as THE place to go! There is a whole community of people out there who will help this happen and with the help and hard work of someone who is committed to running it and dealing with all the stuff that comes with it (positive and negative) it will get there. As Simon said last night any other site should stand or fall on it's own merrits without simply being an offshoot of this one.

The only explanation I saw was that the "crazies" might get back on. Well if the moderators stay then that is less likely. And secondly, why can't Simon accept that someone else will just run it slightly differently? If there really were a good reason why you can't pass the forum on to someone else, it would not be so difficult to explain. There is no good reason.

Sure another site would replace JWD eventually. But many identities, contacts and information would be lost needlessly.

I will miss so many on this site . I have not been able to meet or talk personally to very many , however I feel i know so many of you just by reading your posts .

What Simon has started here has been a lifesaver for so many of us, and I hope he and his family truly know how helpful they have been . I can't begin to imagine the time and energy it must take to keep this forum running smoothly .

I have learned so much from different ones here . When I started my fade three yrs. ago I was so scared and uncertain . Then I read so many stories of how others went through the same feelings I had........ it just helped so much to know I wasn't alone .

So Thank You Simon and all you other moderators that have helped keep this boat afloat for so long

I don't have very many personal emails if anyone would like to keep in contact please pm me your contact email . thanks

The melancholy atmosphere combined with the undercurrent of excited anticipation in moving on reminds me very much of the last day of high school. Everyone is starting to pass around their yearbooks to exchange notes and autographs, lots of hugs and a few tears.

My reaction is simply that I'm disappointed to see the site closing up after several months of infestation by those whose only interest in coming here was "THE SUBJECT". It finally led to the events of this past weekend. But as Simon said in his announcement, he was getting to the point that he couldn't even recommend his on site to doubting JWs anymore. I was starting to feel the same way, in fact I often cringed at some of the stuff posted when I thought of some JW out there who had come for info and support and found a bunch of prurient crap. To think that Simon was getting all the vitriol and ugliness he has mentioned makes it very understandable why he made this tough decision.

Best regards to Simon & family

I'm considering starting a blog and a UBM network

    Stupid question -- what's a UBM network?
