Actually, when I first read the title of this thread, I thought it read "Borning Meetings are INTERNATIONAL", which I suppose is also true.
Could become the title for a Convention programme sometime....

More bull-dropings from the imagination of metatron. Glad to see others here have noted this. Boring meetings are not intentional. They are a consequence of the exit of creative minds. The decrease in attendance is not desireable to the organization. I imagine the same thing happened 4 generations after Jesus started his movement. After it became evident that Jesus hadn't come back the more creative minds drifted. The result finally ended up the ultimate boredom - repetitive mass. They were so lacking in creative adaptability they didn't even notice that eventually they were repeating the mass in a dead language - latin. Talk about sleep!!!

The meetings *could be* designed to be boring - and that would explain the local brothers trying their best to make them less boring.
For instance, the Watchtower Study is boring. The only thing that kept me awake was either answering or bringing other mags with me and I kept up on my reading that way. If one were to actually follow, one would hear (in our area) 30% kids answering word-for-word, 30% ignorant word-for-word, 5% new ones word-for-word, 20% who will never rock the boat (but actually put a couple of words in themselves), 10% who are idiots, and perhaps 5% who have a real thought - however, will crouch those thoughts in words the majority will not understand (for fear of being caught for independant thinking.)
No matter what the conductor does - he must follow the program. Thus, it's designed to be a "read the proper WT answer" hour. And the articles are terribly redundant now!
The locals try - but the meetings are designed to be repetitive, non-thinking, non-questioning exercises.
Where do we learn our WT language primarily? At the meetings. How to think? How to talk? How to dress? How to shun? Get the people tired, bored, sleepy, not allowed to really think - and then sell 'em by droning on and on and on and on..........
Damn, those guys are good.
