    The Camel Breaking Straw:

    Rev: 22:18

"I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.

Appendix 1-D states we have "restored" the divine name when quoting from the Hebrew Scriptures....even though according to the Insight Book under Jehovah it is admitted that "there are not extant (exisiting) ancient manuscripts of of the Christian Greek Scriptures that contain the divine name"...or close to that. So why is it that there are all these scriptures cited below in Appendix 1-D that show the use of the name Jehovah in Revelation......and not a single one of them is a quote from a Hebrew Scripture???........Did WT actually remove a word....lord or God...and add the divine name in the scroll of Revelation????............uuhhhhhh.....ya...they did. Deal breaker for me is actually changing the Bible to make it say what you want it to..............oompa.......and BTW.....allowing children and bloomin youths to be baptized in the first place...which leads to child DF is totally unscriptual just like infant baptism

REVELATION---------oh and BTW again.....there are dozens and dozens of other places WT has added the NAME to the Bible where there is no quote from the Hebrew...just look for " " marks

I wondered who or what gave the WTBTS their authority to be God's channel on earth and therefore the sole 'owner' of the truth, with so many differing religions, not to mention Christian faiths; so I initially questioned the interpretation of the 'faithful and discreet' slave. It felt like they were applying circular logic/reasoning in explaining how they are in fact represented in the bible as the FDS. Basically it boils down to "we are because we say we are".

    LaniB,

You are correct in observing that those who have one or two generations of family in the religion somehow feel they are better than somebody who came in recently. I also felt the 'rules' were bent when they did something not so good and every kind of excuse imaginable was made. I never cared for extended families in the religion as some of them seemed to have a 'smugness' about themselves or walked with their nose in the air.

    Rules&Regulations,

While there were several teachings I found unacceptable or unbelievable, the one I am thinking of is the one where they claimed they were the fulfillment of prophecy.

Well, of course there are so many more important ones than this - but it was just so damn stupid that it really threw me for a loop:

That wing-nut idea that the human heart was sort of a second brain and could think for you and sort of debate with your real brain over moral issues. I recall that they made a big deal over this at assemblies in about 1970 and that people were just in awe of it. I believe that they liked it so much that they claimed other organs (like the kidneys IIRC) were also involved in emotions and desires.

What in the hell was this all about - at best, the bible verses were just using heart in a poetic way to indicate a metaphorical idea. But the WTS, long proponents of some of the nuttiest medical theory known to man, had to insist that it really did "think" for you.

One CO even told me (when I complained about it) that of course it was true - peoples hearts beat faster during sex, so that proves it right there.

    1914, 1919, 1938, etc......

The identity of the FDS when in reality it is the GB that acts as the FDS...

    Then everything else started unraveling.

    James,

A looong time ago, it was common knowledge that the heart did indeed think for us and not the brain so much. The WTS kept that thought going way past the time when everyone knew that it was really the brain all by itself that did our thinking and dictated our emotions.

I believe that at the time the Bible was written, the part about the heart was meant literally because it never said "figurative heart." That was an addition by the WTS to make the Bible sound practical and up to date for our times.

Also, check out the story of Doubting Thomas asking to see Jesus' hands with the holes of the nail...S!

It's plural, meaning that most likely Jesus did die on a cross. They made an error that no one caught but someone on this board. I sure didn't find it on my own.
