I hear ya.... all too well! This too was my first DC without WTS blinders on.

How different a year makes... all of sudden you begin to notice so much that you never noticed before. The look on people's faces, the way they sit, walk....not exactly the 'happiest people on the planet'. All of a sudden you start noticing the strategic movement of the donation brothers and sisters moving locations in expectation of the hints about finance.

It is very surreal!

Granted I was a bit of a smart ass to get me through it, but it was better then siting there with silent tears rolling down my eyes for knowing the farce of it all.

BTW they are more empty.... our DCs location hosted 9 weekends last year.... this year was only 6 and several were merged to fill the facility.

I too feel the zing has been zonking out of the R&F.

People are growing old.

In my KH I gave half a dozen talks for friends who passed away in their 80's and 90's.

And so many do have emotional issues and depression.

Where is the refreshment from the elders' care? With their noses high in the air.

There is no sense of direction from the Governing Body. They continue to spew out platitudes - "the end is near", "keep on the watch", "do more in the preaching".

The elderly do not know what to think but are told to "trust in Jehovah". No wonder this religion is going nowhere.

From time to time I speak with my dad, and I have found that he is becoming resentful towards the Borg. The resentment is never in his words, but in his tone. He is a man that bypassed a promising career in baseball and several lucrative business deals in order to become a JW and to reach the status of Elder, and eventually substitute C.O. before health problems retired him from those duties.

If the applause becomes any weaker, I suggest the convention planners pre-record the applause from a noisily enthusiastic sporting event and play it through the convention loud speakers to create the illusion that the attendees are responding enthusiastically rather than with the increased state of stupor.

BTW the actor's surname is spelt Pearce, not Pierce.

Well with all the recent changes without a real explanation, it does cause murmuring to occur. It's gotta feel rough when it looks like it's going to be a long haul and u skipped opportunities early in life to make things easier.
