    Reniaa,

This site is for recovering JW's. It is not an XCatholic site nor is it an X anything else site.

That being the case, we are mostly concerned with the elders who seem to forget that they are falible humans bound to make mistakes.

They have too much power in the congs over people. They can do so much damage, and THAT is what this discussion is about.

They refuse to acknowledge their humanness.

Why should anyone be forced on pains of DF'ing to obey them without question?

Why do you seem to miss the point on just about every thread on this discussion board?

I don't mean to be rude, but I can't help but wonder why you are here at all?

You are always driving on the wrong side of the road.

I found there were 2 types--abusive, lying, power hungry and the others who knew they were like that and did nothing about it and subset of that group who finally stopping being elders, and some stopping even going.

Only one of them was halfway worthy of any respect. He did the best he could to run the congregation. I realize he was only human, and he wanted to live a somewhat normal life. However, he did not seem to be too much in my business and giving me crap advice.

All the others were dodos, or worse. It was normal for them to tell me that I needed to put more time in field circus or that I needed to obey the stupid rules that they had for no reason. The bottom of the barrel--when they told me to just meet men at a$$emblies, I totally lost respect for them and started scheming ways to waste their time and energy on tracking me. And now I am here on this board instead of at the Kingdumb Hell.

Every forum needs an apposing viewpoint for balance otherwise you really are just saying what people want to hear! Is it helping someone's recovery all about saying "Yes he was a bad man don't think about it" or helping them to understand a thing from all sides and so see it in a more honest and realistic way?

Yes, I do know some sincere elders--but there are very few. Most are control freaks and fat headed!

I have respect for some of the elders that I know, as people, but not as elders. I had a real problem with the elder arrangement as the society sees it. The elders think they have authority over you, but they don't. I think you have to take alot on yourself to think you have the very great responsibility to advise other people as to what is right or wrong. I have never met any elder that I thought was living a life style that made it possible for him to give me advice. I am not saying that I do not look at other peoples way of living as an example. But I do not like people who have the audacity to assume that they have the expertise to tell me how to live. The society lies like the proverbial dog and their actions have screwed thousands of people over. Yet they still assume the position of authority over the spiritual well being of their fellow man. The society likes the scripture 1 peter 5:5,6 but they skim over 1 peter 5:1-4. Other scriptures show that elders serve the congregation , not the other way around. I know we hear that from the podium but it is not practiced.
