Literature Request: "God's Kingdom of a thousand Years Has Approached"

  What I was hoping to get out of it was in one of their publications something that states that they were chosen in 1918 as the FDS....I know there is also a recent WT with the same, but I think seeing it in an old book would be more plausible than in a 'members only' watchtower.

  I am amazed that my wife has been around the WTS/JWs for this long and she does not realize that they profess to be selected by God at that time......she really has done NO LOOKING AT ALL at the JWs, she just lets them feed her all the drivel they can, it is scary!

  Actually the chosen year is 1919 (1918 is when they say Jesus (or God) came to inspect the temple and the dead anointed were resurrected)

  "On arriving" to inspect the "slave" in 1918, Christ found a spirit-anointed remnant of faithful disciples who since 1879 had been using this journal and other Bible-based publications to provide spiritual "food at the proper time." He acknowledged them as his collective instrument, or "slave," and in 1919 entrusted them with the management of all his earthly belongings.

  It's simply an example of them impressing the heck out of her and her believing that this experience must be divine in origin. Show her it's possible to recreate this experience in the lab (other cults). Hint, hint.

  I think, you and I are technically oriented. To determine "truth", we want to see the data.

  Our wives, on the other hand, are more experiential (is that a word?), "feeling" and intuition based...so we really tend to fall flat on our faces when showing them our charts and diagrams. It took me a while to figure that one out!

  I was watching the movie License to Wed the other day and it sort of reminded me of the UBM thing! You ought to check it out. The guy miserably fails in trying to get him and his fiance out of Rev. Frank's marriage preparation course. He resorts to trying to dig up dirt on Reverend Frank himself and makes an ass out of himself. To his fiance, he was missing the whole point.

  Likewise, your wife perceives positive things in the program her JW friends are presenting her. A way to get on the "right team" and get into God's good graces, and of course to get the big fat prize in the end. I guess step one is to explore what really "does it" for her and start from there.

  You are correct MJ, I am WAY too technically minded and need to be able to redirect the approach....to you and I, if one can show us the facts, and we can see that the facts are really the facts (not adulterated in any way) you can prove something to us.

  To my wife, facts on an issue like this mean nothing, it is a much tougher situation to grab, and I do need to figure out what the carrot or the pot of gold that my wife is really finding appealing with this. I believe it is social, she only reaches out to the jws when she is out of school, not working etc, and they are the masters at being able to figure out when that is...but still need to deal with it.

  My wife is a great person, but I would say very difficult to get to know as a friend, and she really does not treat her friends as well as I feel she should, so true friends are far between. Right now the JWs are wonderful friends for her, because they are trying to 'sell the program', and then they hope she has bought into the program enough that she feels vested and can not get out....

  On inspecting the remnant of his anointed disciples in the year 1919 C.E., the reigning King Jesus Christ did find the appointed "slave" faithful and discreet in the feeding of his "domestics." Accordingly, he appointed this "slave" class over all his belongings. Their enlarged responsible position now was that of serving in fulfillment of the now due Kingdom prophecies. All through the centuries the "faithful and discreet slave" class has been made up of those who are "ambassadors substituting for Christ," which ambassadors make an entreaty to people to become reconciled to God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:19, 20) Since their appointment in 1919, however, they are ambassadors of the inaugurated Messianic kingdom, with a Kingdom message that has taken on new meaning and force. (Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10) Theirs is the privilege and responsibility to lend themselves as instruments for the carrying out of the Kingdom prophecies that have their finalizing fulfillment since 1914 C.E. What an honor it is for them to be used in the working out of what the book of Revelation foretells with all its marvelous symbolisms and its glorious news about the thousand-year reign of Christ

  Fulfilled prophecies make it certain that Jehovah’s Theocratic Servant Christ Jesus came to the temple in 1918. Then he entered into judgment with the consecrated servants of Jehovah. He did so in order to determine who of them should be retained in God’s service and be constituted and organized as His "faithful and wise servant" class to do the evangelistic work thenceforth...
  

  During the period from 1878 to 1918 Jehovah’s devoted servants were endeavoring to act unitedly in doing the witness work pictured by that of Elijah the prophet and hence referred to as "the Elijah work". Like Elijah’s work, it was against religion or demonism and for the vindication of God’s name. This work, conducted under the leadership of Christ Jesus, came to an end in 1918, when he came to the temple as Jehovah’s Messenger and Judge. (See Malachi 3: 1.) The judgment tests which he then and there applied separated out from Jehovah’s professed servants an "evil servant" class, which followed after man-worship, selfish ambitions, and self-righteousness, and which aimed after the control of the governing body.

  A remnant manifested purity of heart and devotion to the Lord God and to his Theocratic organization and the interests of his kingdom. This faithful remnant was approved under the judgment trial, and Christ Jesus the King gathered them unto unity with himself at the temple. He adjudged these faithful anointed servants of Jehovah God to be the "faithful and wise servant" class under himself as Head. To them he committed the interests of the Kingdom. That is, he laid upon them the duty and privilege to carry on the evangelistic work as Jehovah’s witnesses in ’preaching the evangel of the kingdom in all the habitable earth for a witness to all the nations’. This they must do, down to the battle of Armageddon, when the Kingdom will destroy all the enemies of The Theocracy and then the millennial reign of Christ Jesus will begin. This "faithful and wise servant" class is the real "Society" of Jehovah’s anointed remnant. That is, it includes all those of the faithful spirit-begotten remnant, whereas the legal corporation, the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, does not include all such.

  Even in the mid-40s this doctrine wasn't about picking the one true group on earth. It was to discredit all those Bible Students who left and stopped following Rutherford!
