It always goes to magic dating systems that have been exposed to be fallible.
What would be a non-magic dating system in your opinion, let's say a reliable tool to base scientific chronology on?

lol, JB!

That statement made me laugh! The first thought that came to my mind was a man named Methuselah who was supposed to have lived 969 years. Talk about a "magical" dating system.
Thanks for that thought provoking article hamilcarr. Sometimes I try to imagine what my ancestors were doing a thousand or two generations ago. It boggles the mind to contemplate such time spans.

Where is the eveidence of people living 60,000 years ago.
I have gone back to college, and am taking World History I.
In videos and in the textbook we see pictures of fossilized footprints from homo erectus man from 1million years ago. Skulls (especially Lucy-from Africa-Australopithicus-3 million years old) and others of Neaderthal man, have been found that definetely are from upright-walking, primitive tool-using man. Cave paintings were shown that are at least 30,000 years old, and stone tools.
I also took Geology. Fascinating.
Please do yourself a favor and investigate these things. In the region of the Tigris and Euphrates, yes, there were the beginnings of cities, as man began to cultivate wild grasses, whereas previously man had been joined in nomadic bands of hunter/gatherers.
Yes, there is much, much evidence.
"Yes there is much evidence" SAYS Quandry, but I like the earlier point, when do we ever get proper refs. to scientific papers that have at least been peer reviewed? saying" there is much evidence" is like saying "Bible Chronology proves......" Give us proper refs. and not just to some man's opinion. Some in the science community are very like the WTS in their methods. Love Wobble

Here's a recent article on mitochondrial DNA and human evolution from the American Journal of Human Genetics, May 2008:

Thanks Hamillcar,
That looks like the kind of article I was asking for I will check it out later,my point was that so often people (esp.journalists !) make claims with no refs. and therefore how can we check their interpretation? I love Ben Goldacre's column in The Guardian (a UK national paper sister to the Observer) which is entitled "Bad Science" and he shows how often opinions based on dodgy or no research are quoted as fact.
Thanks again.

The bones of Lucy were just here at the Science museum in Houston, Texas. Not opinion. Real bones. About 3 million years old. They prove the Lucy walked upright, and was about three feet tall.
How do we know she walked upright? The area under the skull, where the vertebrae join the head shows that the hole is UNDER the skull, not at the lower back, where the apes' are that use their knuckles to walk.As also mentioned, fossilized footprints have been found from three million years ago that show upright walking.
Later skulls show that the opening is even more centered under the skull. The skeletons get bigger, and the brow ridges become less prominent as the ages of the skeletons lessen. The frontal portion of the skull is enlarged in the more modern man, homo sapien, that developed about 200,000 years ago, and the tools become more complex.
C'mon now. Everyone should know the real truth -- man has been here 6,033 years since Jehovah created Adam, according to reliable Bible chronology. And the diaspora originated from the Tower of Babel in the Middle East, man's real cradle, and not Africa.
Is DNA really "magic" to some people still?
Watch out for that 8000 yr old sumerian poop. It messed up sitchin.
Btw, scientists are now saying that the neanderthals were in europe before the africans started into europe. I suspect that human history goes back much further than the evidence, so far, shows. There just wasn't enough of them, or they hadn't built cities, or there is just too much time for clues about them to survive. If so, then the neanderthals could be the survivors from an earlier human branch.
