Well, a JW couple that still like to hang around even though I haven't attended a meeting since February invited the JW wifey and I to lunch. We decided to go to a popular restaurant in the neighboring town. We went right after their meeting was over. They changed clothes and met us at the restaurant which is what I figured they would do since all my suits are gone.

While there we had an excellent meal and a few drinks. Just when we are leaving we ran into some other JW's from another congo. The wouldn't hardly even look at me. With the beard and all you know. They continued speaking to my wife and the other JW's that were with me. I finally looked one of them right in the eyes and you should have seen them. They were frightened!! LOL I guess my lil' apostate ass must have a bad rap in the congo's. Eh, eh, eh..... I could have said "Boo!" and I think they would have shit their pants.

I can relate to that experience...I've had similar things happen.

It seems that the over-zealous fall into two categories...one, they're scared. We represent rebelliousness and disobedience so they feel the need to get away, run. Two, they feel a superiority. They feel that because they're remaining faithful and we've left, that we're somehow beneath them.

I've seen both attitudes displayed toward me.

But I have to admit that quite a few JWs that I see from time to time still treat me much as they did before. We might not be as close friends as before, but they are still friendly, respectful and for short periods of time once in a while, are quite fun to be around. Maybe I was just fortunate enough to have made friends with the more rational, well-adjusted JWs than those who feel the need to lord it over others or be afraid of their own shadow.

Yeah, I gotta say they seemed pretty uptight and did not want to look at me. Ha, ha, ha, ha!

    Now Quirky,

Do they think you're apostate or do they know that you're apostate?

I recently had the displeasure of meeting several witnesses after being out for many, many years. Personally, I found them to be, for lack of a better term, socially retarded. No smile hello, no chit-chat, just very rude, and lacking social skills.

It left an unpleasant taste in my mouth, and makes me thank god that I"m out of that shit.

    wha happened?

yea once u draw away from them, their truly ugly social skills become very obvious

A quote from the late, beloved George Carlin would be appropriate here: "See my beard? Ain't it weird? Don't be skeared. It's just a beard."

The fear is palpable isn't it?

I once ran into a 'sister' that I have known since we were teenagers. We bumped into each other head on in a video store. I had my grandkids with me, and she chose to speak with them [who she had never met before] instead speaking to me. Even when I finally forced her to speak a little, she never made eye contact and seemed to be directing her reply to the kids.

What insanity! How the hell did I hang around with this bunch of idiots for so long before I saw thru it?

    Jeff
