  Did you ever notice that some people could get away with doing anything but if YOU blew your nose, everyone knew about it??

  Did you see a lot of double standards in your congregation?

  I knew of 3 elders that regularly associated with their df'd children...........one even gave a talk about not doing it.

  The elders always had special privileges.

  I used to get grief for the music I listened to and the clothes I wore. Elders kids used to listen to 70's hard rock which has far worse lyrics than my bands did and they wore whatever style of the day just a little more conservative.

  Then again red, blue, green and purple hair usually does make one stand out.

  I was the guy that got away with everything.

  Haha!

  People around me got questioned for parties, drinking, fornication, etc. Me? Nothing. I was good assosiation until nearly the end.

  There were some families that were "marked". Not officially. Just targeted.

  ..No one bothered our family..My Dad was the Tephlon Elder..You could throw anything you wanted at him..Nothing would stick..LOL!!..And..Everybody liked him................OUTLAW

  I always worked in an office. In the early years, I heard the stupidest remarks from people saying that 'she should be doing housecleaning' . There were serious issues about intelligent women who had a job or career. Some morons acted as if I 'owed' somebody something! I had nothing against housecleaning, it just wasn't for me.

  Well, some years down the line certain more popular and acceptable young ladies in the hall (with families in the religion) got jobs in an office. Presto! Suddenly, it was okay to have a job in an office!!!

  None of these girls was panned the way I was.

  I did see double standards with elder families over regular publisher families. Elder kids got away with a lot of shit that no one else could get away with. Elders pushed the limits on certain behavior where if it were anyone else that same elder would have to counsel them.

  But for me personally, other than getting counseled on little stupid shit, like grooming, etc. I managed to keep most of my forays into worldly behavior secret and never had to face extreme punishment for anyting.
