My opinion is the Organization is sensing that there is a lot of apostatism and diversion getting spread around and
and in their mind one way to curb this dissension is to closely look at the flock to see who and where it might be coming from.
Call it protectionism of their throne and power.
Watch over the flock carefully brothers, people who are not following are direction and are displaying opposing views can weaken the congregation.

lol - poor sucker feel for the WTS's letter. Of course the bookstudy will not be reinstated due to petrol prices. The thing is, if petrol prices halved and the bookstudy was not reinstated, how would the brother feel? I am sure he will come up with some excuse to justify things in his own mind.

The gas prices are down because they republicans are trying to get McBush elected.
Theyll be going up next week no matter who wins.
I'll reduce this for you.
The people who control the gas prices want a republican in office.

It's The Track. They want to prevent anything out of the confines of what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger wants them to think. At homes, they were able to comment every other question, and that could lead to slightly off-beat comments that could lead to much bigger issues later. Move them to the Kingdumb Hell and condense it, and you limit the opportunity for such comments (they have to stick to The Track with those comments) and provide another chance to get pulled back for a "bad" comment.
Plus it cuts back on "Goodie Night". How many people go just for those snacks after the study. Someone reported that it was "fun", especially for those that are in the inner circle and rarely do anything except theocraptic activity. The Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger couldn't have that--because they would be going only for the "fun" and not for the study alone. Plus, having those events broke up The Track that the Washtowel Slaveholdery is trying to create. Hence, they had to go.
And there is the liability issue. I don't think high gas prices ever had anything to do with it--I originally thought it was to free an evening for field circus, but now I see it's more to force families to hold mini-Big Boasting Sessions each week with practice field circus sessions, study out of Washtowel publications, and acting out Washtowel dramas.

I am assuming this is not for real.

My good friend told me the bookstudy would be back on if petrol prices drop!!!!
Just goes to show that no matter how hard the Society is trying to distance themselves from the comment about high fuel prices, the friends did hear it and they remember it.
It also shows that the friends really hate losing the book study. Here's a JW who thinks that if the gas prices drop low enough, they'll bring back it back. He's hoping against hope that it will be reinstated.

Perhaps you should ask your friend if he feels that the Tuesday night meeting is directly tied to the price of oil (or gas price at the pump)?
Then he can be watching the price - and know if there will be a book study on Tuesday - or not. Gas prices at the pump are at 1.99 - meeting this week. Gas prices at the pump are at 3.99 - no meeting this week.
Maybe by doing this - you can get him to see the folly of this 'logic' - (or - he may go off thinking he has discovered 'new light'.).

It was never about fuel prices, although them hinting in the original letter that it was due to fuel prices will haunt the WTS. I, for one, started waking up when I read their letter.
Anyone else like me still have a copy of the letter? -

My point was how the society letter focuses on westerner brothers suffering due to lack of time and petrol money......meanwhile African brothers who have no cars and lots of time and risk life and limb to attend the bookstudy which they adore.
