My good friend told me the bookstudy would be back on if petrol prices drop!!!! Of course this never effected those Witnesses who were too poor to own a car....who crossed crocodile infested rivers...got Malaria....attacked by bandits just to make it to the bookstudy....."Daddy we lost little Johnny in the river!" {Dad} - "Is the New World Translation still dry?" ....."yes"......{dad} "Thank Jehovah!"
Petrol prices drop so a Brother told me the bookstudy is back on!!

Witness007,
Is this just somebody's opinion??? Just because gas prices go down doesn't mean they won't go back up again. It might just be like a yo-yo and will stay that way indefinitely.
So many people got used to the idea of having that night free and have made other plans that they might not be able to change. What if the homes that used to be available for study are not available any more? What if they are glad to be rid of the study?
I'd like to see them try jerking people around and see what actually happens. Maybe even more people will leave the religion.

The book study has had the lowest attentance of all the meetings for a long time, and no matter what the WTS said about the importance of attending ALL the meetings, most of the Bro's are getting tired of so many meetings. It would be nice to keep the book study and remove the TMS/Service meeting, but that's not possible so the book study has to go to lower the burdan on the Bro's.
Thats my feelings...

It was a legal measure to remove the liability of child abuse in home book studies. The organization is paying out millions upon millions and they had to put a stop to the access of children going unsupervised in these homes and being molested by pedophiles.

In this area it has been hard to find "appropriate" family homes to have a book study in. They have had as many as 3 at the KH in separate rooms. Also, it has been hard to find enough "qualified" elders and MS to conduct the book study. Having all at the KH and only one elder each week conducting would solve those problems.

Wasn't it rumored that some "apostate" thinking was seeping into the home book studies causing a problem for the organization?

So now the Watchtower leadership is hinging it's meeting schedules upon the price of gasoline? Brilliant, just brilliant. What if it was Satan the Devil who had put it into the minds of oil traders to drive up the price of crude? What if Satan causes the futures markets to drive up the price of paper? Will the Watchtower combine their publications into one big bulky notebook? I think the Governing Body better convene a special session to discuss and vote on this issue. My theory just might have some legs . . . . .
