I many times wonder how i could be so stupid and blind to this nonsence for most of my life.
I realize it isn't stupidity that kept us there. Even the well respected "Farkle" with much intelligence was there a long time.

It took me 30 years. Talk about stupidity. I will not let them forget. They ruined me, my marriage, my education, and much more. I will do everything possible to expose them for what they are. If they are God's building nothing anyone does will destroy them, but if it is man's work, then that will become very clear for everyne to see.

Yardirt:you call it a "false prophecy”. But I call it an adjustment in understanding.
"I" don't call it a false prophecy nor does any other Apostate....the bible calls it a false prophecy.

    Yadirf says:

but I call it sharing with others what is believed to be true regarding what the Bible itself said. When something such as this fails, you call it a "false prophecy”. But I call it an adjustment in understanding.

    Joelbear says:

Exactly when does the truth actually become the truth? Which set of understandings that people are taught will they be judged on? If someone makes a decision about god based on misunderstandings they have been taught, who is accountable, the student or the teacher?

Also, how is this different from any religion. Aren't most religions teaching people what they believe to be true?

Vaccination changes, taking blood fractions, divorce over oral sex changes, organ transplants, etc, etc.
These "CHANGES" cost people before them their lives, my superior! How "MINOR" is this to you?
True, there is are casualties with almost every miscalculation. That is not a minor thing, and I recognize that. However, I was explaining things on the basis of how such a change will impact the WTS itself. No adjustment in the past will have impacted the WTS as much as the 1914 change will.

    Yadirf,
definitely, DEFINITELY going to bed this time.

In the past there were Prophets in one sense of the word. The WTS, though a prophet, is not a prophet in the same sense as like Daniel was a Prophet. That’s something that an Apostate like yourself don’t have the will to accept. The WTS (being dedicated to do God’s will as it understands it to be) has served as a “prophet” in the sense that it has given it’s best efforts towards understanding the Bible and shared what it understood with the people of the world. The scripture which you imagine to apply to the WTS as a false prophet therefore has no relevance to the WTS, because the WTS is a prophet in the sense of being a teacher … not in the sense of being a Daniel-like Prophet. A teacher that makes a mistake is not a false teacher, it’s a true teacher that made a mistake. Or would you favor having any and all College teachers being fired from their jobs, simply on the basis of their having made some error?

true teacher that made a mistake

Why does a god of justice allow casualties and/or miscalculations?

I thought the faithful and discreet slave dispensed food at the proper time. Does this imply that there is a proper time for miscalculations? How is that fair to those who suffer because of the miscalculations while others at a later date will not have to suffer because the miscalculation is corrected? The teacher is true but the teaching is mistaken?

    Hi Yadirf,

What you're referring to as "major doctrinal changes" were actually quite MINOR when placed up beside the 1914 doctrine.
It really depends on how you look at it. I don't think that the change regarding organ transplants would be considered "quite minor" to families who lost loved ones due to the Society's position before transplants were allowed. Or, how about those who spent time in prison before JWs had the option of choosing "alternative service"?
Nothing that can affect someone's life in such a profound way can be considered "quite minor".

    Yadirf,

    You said:

would you favor having any and all College teachers being fired from their jobs, simply on the basis of their having made some error?
Yes I would, if the teacher was shown to be extraordinarily harsh with their students and in their discipline.

The WT Society, although making many doctrinal fumbles along the way, has insisted on lockstep, rigid obedience, and has not allowed for the freedom of discussion among its members of even minor doctrines. So they (the so-called "faithful and discreet slave") hold themselves up as God's teachers, absolutely right (or soon to be right... just wait for the new light!).

Such arrogance and harshness is what sets them apart from a teacher who makes an innocent fact of error in his/her teaching.

No wonder your going to bed Yardirt...your losing in this discusion big time and you know it!
Yardirt say's: "Or would you favor having any and all College teachers being fired from their jobs, simply on the basis of their having made some error?
Big Big difference in this lame comparison of yours.
Teachers do not claim to be God's channel on earth.
The GB is guilty of bloodshed on a mass scale. I don't know of any teachers who cost people their lives by blundering some comment relating to geography or the like.
By the way...if you have a nasty dream while your sleeping...Jehovah will forgive you.

I agree with Gopher.. in that people will leave when they are ready to. Things change with people with time. I think most will see it at sometime.
