Dec 15th & Jan 15 Watchtowers - change of thought?

Just been having a flick through the Dec 15 & Jan 15 “JW only” Watchtowers. (And no - I don’t know how to PDF them or anything else!)

Unusually there isn’t a single mention glorifying the FADS - in fact , “Jehovah’s channel” or any other similar expression isn’t referenced at all (other than a single scriptural reference in the review of revelation in the Dec 15 th issue.)

The magazines talk a lot (and I mean a lot) about the ministry , but unusually refer to the ministry as not being more important than Christian “good works” eg visiting the sick etc. They use the illustration of the ministry & good works being like 2 wings of a bird , both of which are required. There is even a picture of a sister doing the ministry & then commiserating with another sister over an empty cot (miscarriage?)

There are also quite a few articles about Jesus , who usually doesn‘t get much of a mention. And bear in mind that most weeks , the Ministry School next year has a talk about Jesus every week , from the “Learn from the Great Teacher” book.

Could the WTS be changing to become more mainstream - more emphasis on Jesus & Christian works? Hmmm - maybe changes afoot at Brooklyn…

If they cease being a destructive cult, they cease to exist.

Go through and count the word "organization" or "Jehovah's organization" - those terms mean more or less the same as FDS.

Done just that. Zilch. Not used at all. Nor was governing body. They use the expression "worldwide brotherhood" & similar but no reference to the leadership at all. Strange........................

I guess they are going to focus more on field circus, and using Jesus as an example of how people are supposed to do field circus. I bet they totally miss the true meaning of Jesus' message--not a word in favor of thinking independently, personal authority, or actually doing as you preach.

Quick glance reveals WT Dec 15th page 10, question on paragraph 14 reads: "Integrity-keepers respond in what way to organizational changes and doctrinal refinements?" The paragraph starts: "We can also maintain integrity by avoiding a fault-finding, critical spirit."

It also makes the point about only the anointed having Jesus as mediator in the next study: so not exactly what many would call progress.

Saying that caring for others in congregation is as important as the ministry is an interesting point. I don't know if they have put it quite like that before. Let's just hope they don't start getting us to report time for it as well. (I know elders are allowed to "count time" visiting people in the congregation for various reasons, which I have always thought is a bit snidey.)

I still haven't been given my Jan 15! I've been asking for it for about 6 weeks now. Must find out what the problem is. I don't see what right they have to withold it from me.

Sounds like it'll make interesting reading...

I predict in another 2 years the WTS will be VASTLY different from when I bcame a JDub in the early 1980s
