Interesting that people on this site are reading and going to meetings! It sounds like the same and nothing has changed they want people to do good works as well as going out in service. If I remember right when there was not enough people to go out in service they would do back calls are going into retirement homes. That is not so bad reading the bible to the widows!

Why are you going to meetings? Are there parts of the meetings that you enjoy?

I haven't heard the "orginisation is our Mother" speech for a long time...I guess that is alittle pagan/Catholic of us.

I can only speak for myself but no, I definitely don't enjoy the meetings. It feels like psychological rape most of the time. Why do I go? Because if I stop attending, it will tear my family apart. So I continue doing something that is very painful for me.

You have to hand it to the organization, that's a pretty tight control situation they have there.

Remember too that for us, who have not read a magazine in years, it is quite easy to notice changes in terminology and wording. For a JW, though, who reads this crap every single day of the week, it is really hard to notice any change in language.

WT has this incredible ability to introduce changes so gradually in their language, diluted along so many years, that when a JW notices it, it's usually too late, which he will attribute it to his own lack of keeping pace.

I have to agree with Mickey Mouse. Now that my eyes are open I almost puke at the mindf*ck I have to endure at the meetings. And the assemblies are even worse.

The part the other night about donating your possessions to the Watchtower Society was particularly nauseating. The speaker actually said, "Doesn't the idea just give you a warm fuzzy feeling?"

"Integrity-keepers respond in what way to organizational changes and doctrinal refinements?"

    Oh,my, how subtle....

    Right away the guilt prod..

."Oh, no..if I am an integrity keeper, I should welcome changes and refinements, not question them...what kind of Christian am I....I must force questions out of my head, accept any "refinements" even though they contradict the previous "refinements" and shun any family member who does not go to meetings, or asks questions, lest they cause me to lose my integrity.

The magazines always appear to promote kind and loving views, yet what if you spent your time helping the sick and did not turn in a service report? You'd still be listed as "inactive."

The WTS should advertise itself as a Travel Agency. They are always sending people on GUILT TRIPS!!

    Amen, same here!

    they got my family hostage!

the only thing I can do is do guerilla warfare, and try to take them down by not supporting them financially, and they can't have my mind either
