    Bethel hours

8-5 (1 hour lunch) weekdays (can vary depending on job)

8-12 Saturdays (not every Saturday, depends on gender and age, most sisters have all off by 40 and brothers have 2 off by 50))

    Sundays off

Bethelites do work overtime depending on their assignments.

They earn vacation based on how long they have been there.

This pertains to their work at Bethel, not the meetings that all jws are required to attend.

You didn't think they worked 24/7 did you?

Didn't think that, but was wondering if there were any holidays, I guess the answer is no, just Sundays and earned days of leave!

On this point we have the following striking testimony of the CATHOLIC WORLD, published in 1894:

"The church took the pagan philosophy and made it the buckler of faith against the heathen. She took the pagan Roman Pantheon, temple of all gods, and made it sacred to all the martyrs; so it stands to this day. She took the pagan Sunday and made it the Christian Sunday. She took the pagan Easter and made it the feast we celebrate during this season...........

Since it has obvious pagan roots why is Bethel still observing Sundays off.... They should work those Bethelites hard 24/7 After all it is only a few more weeks or months at the most before "A" strikes...

Celebrated WBT$ Scholars give us very good reasons, why Christians should "not" Celebrate Thanksgiving!.....#1:The Turkey is an ancient Pagan Phallic Symbol..Pagan Penis`s were shaped like Turkeys!.......2#:When Pagan`s wanted Sex they would yell Gobble-Gobble!!..The words "Gobble-Gobble",would throw entire Pagan Villages into a Sex Frenzy!!.......3#:"John the Turkey" was beheaded on Thanksgiving!!.........................Laughing Mutley...OUTLAW

They are supposed to be thankful every day (to that Almighty Lowlife Scumbag Jehovah). With that excuse, they do not have to spend time and money on food that should be spent in field circus or the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund. Plus they want everyone out in field circus when everyone is home.

The number one reason the WT Society doesn't like Thanksgiving: Because they didn't think of it first!

There are a lot of 'friends' on the fence about this one, some will join wordly family for meals, others will condemn those that do. OTOH, I agree that if they're going to ban celebrating every holiday, even those that don't have pagan roots, then why don't they make up some of their own. The bible has many accounts of different celebrations, special days, etc, etc...

Were there any days off at Bethel?

In the mid-70s we'd get off early from work for the Gilead graduation (about twice a year). The traditional dinner was Standing Rib Roast with plenty of fixings. It had the atmosphere of a Thanksgiving celebration. Often we'd go to another's room afterwards for a drink.

Worldly holidays were regular work days. I remember trudging through the snow down the streets of Brooklyn Heights on Christmas morning to go to work in the factory. Everyone else was at home. They seemed to be at peace.
