G'day Surrey Girl and welcome aboard!
Thanks for bringing this thread back to the top again. I musta missed it before, but Hawkaw has certainly brought up a 'piece de resistance' here.
I was a young married man when this Awake! was published and I wonder why I don't remember it.
It must be because I had other things...oops, sorry, Mrs Ozzie on my mind!
Cheers, Ozzie

Hello Ozziepost.
No doubt the WTB&TS cringe when they read that old article - I don't suppose they would word it in quite the same way now - even if they still think that way!!
I also agree with another post that there are many more sisters in the congregations than brothers - I wonder why that is?

Recently I have come to agree; Paul was just giving an opinion. He did not like or approve of the idea of women teaching in the congregation, but of course the society takes it literally and as LAW.
Women were prophets; women will be priests and kings in heaven; how could they NOT be used as leaders in the congregation?
It would take a while for women to be qualified; they have been told for so long that they are not qualified mentally or emotionally that they believe it in many cases, I think.
If Thatcher can lead a country, Bhutto can lead a country, I think women could be used in the christian congregation.Just an opinion; don't df me for it.

Dear Pistoff - I agree. Members of the 144,000 include men and women - hey -that means that women have some value doesn't it? If women can assist in ruling from the heavens - why not here on earth? A lot of the brothers want "stepford wives" - hence their chauvanistic attitude. Get out of the dark ages into the 20th (or even the 21st!) century!!! If it wasn't for the sisters there would be no JWs anyway because they make up two thirds of JWs.

Nowaytess,
It talking about leadership of the family. Last and fianl decision is the husbands. A good husband already has the repect of his wife and she will respect his decsions. A good husband will have earned his wife and children's respect.
Why?
What makes you think that men should have the last and final decision?
BTW, I am a male, but I've never agreed to "be the head" just because I am a man. Decisions should be taken by common accord or not at all!

Been going on for a long long time...From the Gospel of Mary Magdalene (Papyrus Berolinensis 8502):
Peter answered and spoke concerning these same things.
He questioned them about the Savior: Did He really speak privately with a woman and not openly to us? Are we to turn about and all listen to her? Did He prefer her to us?
Then Mary wept and said to Peter, My brother Peter, what do you think? Do you think that I have thought this up in my heart, or that I am lying about the Savior?
Levi answered and said to Peter, Peter you have always been hot tempered. Now I see you are contending against the woman like the adversaries. But if the Savior made her worthy, who are you to reject her? Surely the Savior knows her very well. That is why he loved her more than us. Rather let us be ashamed and put on the perfect Man, and seperate as he commanded us and preach the gospel, not laying down any other rule or law beyond what the Savior said.
So put that in your Bible and smoke it.

What has the brain size of a undernourished person got to do with comparing the brain size of a man and a women that have never undernourished arent we talking about two different things here? Anyway at the church I go to they have a women Elder and everything is ok so I think the WT should appoint a few female elders there may be an improvement. Barry
