Oh don't get me started on Heroes. That show has jumped the shark big time. It's a shame because that first season was way cool. Sylar was better as a bad guy and Saresh was the moral compass of the show; now he's some sort of hoky Dr. Moreau-type cockroach man.

I can see this is gonna be one of those situations where I have to forget everything I know about star trek. Looks like there just ripping star trek lore apart, you would think they would learn from Lucas mistake.
I like the trailer it looks good. Its just the incongruities it presents. Like the opening scene with the kid in a corvette??? ST with kirk too place circa 2265. What are the chances a 59 corvette will still be around than? Let alone some lil knuckle head taken it for a spin. Let alone gas to power it.
He than drives his hover bike to watch them assemble the enterprise, nevermind the fact the enterprise was in service ten years before kirk got out of starfleet. And if they want to pull the retrofit thing, that would've been done in space at the shipyards.
Lastly while kirk was in the academy spock was already serving on the enterprise.
Sadly, thats what I can think of off the top of my head, like I said there is a lot of established lore, that we have to just ignore if you want to enjoy the movie.
Needless to say I'll be there in may. -
BabaYaga

The actor that plays Syler on Heroes will be playing Spock.....
And I have to say he looks a great fit for the part.
Not sure about kirk... looks a little too annoying-pretty-boy / teenager anakin skywalker

Big Tex said: What concerns me is the loss of what made Star Trek unique. Star Trek in the 60's was about optimism. The main thrust of the show was that mankind would get its act together and create a better world. The was still the case to some degree with the Next Generation, but with DS9 and Voyager it started straying away from what made Star Trek what it was.
I agree 100%. I loved the original Star Trek and my father was one of the biggest Trekkies around (still is). I even remember staying home from the Thursday night
bore-festsmeetings to watch it. LOL! TNG was just as good (just in a different way), but I never got in to either Voyager and Deep Space Nine sucked big time, with a couple of notable exceptions: Little Green Men, where 3 of the Ferengies went back in time to Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 and the other one where some of the crew went back to the 23rd century and they integrated clips for one of the original Star Treks.I was very disappointed in Enterprise, as I thought it had really good potential. There were some singulary really good episodes, but over all, it was just not very well done.
I wonder if they'll have another Star Trek TV show that takes place maybe a hundred years after TNG........

Spock2 + Kirk2 = homoerotic

Looks pretty good. It's not going to be the same, they have to try to make Star Trek appeal to the next generation after all.
Wouldn't it be cool if Kirk had a Darth Vader "Noooooo!" moment?

well, lets see... that would make it about 300 years old.
We have machines from the early 1700's that still function.
And maybe it has been retro-fitted with neo-power, or maybe it's a reissue?
Lastly while kirk was in the academy spock was already serving on the enterprise.
What scene is contrdicting that?
