I was out on Saturday and found the stores all packed. Not sure if people were buying much stuff or what, but I could not find what I was looking for (a Wii system) in 4 stores I went to.
I found it on Target on Sunday morning.

ObsHey count yourself lucky! It took us 8 months to finally find one and it was in a little two bit Kmart that I stopped at to buy a snack! The sales clerk told us that they had only been getting in 1 at a time..go figure.
The news today says that Campbells quarter is down overall, but sales of soup have increased substantially. Spam is selling off the shelves so much so they have to increase production.
A definite change in eating habits - soup makes a great meal, so that's a bonus for Campbells. sammieswife.

Retailers are at the end of the chain in a recession. If many people lost their jobs because other industry segments suffer you will also notice this in your local mall. However, maybe political means can avoid the worst. I hope so.

The problem with the current economic crisis is that many people have over spent on credit and credit cards and the like. Spending our way out of a recession if it is based on what people cannot afford doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
