Why aren't JW's exposed in the news on 60 Minutes?

I know we had the Dateline show a few years ago, but what about recently?

Seems to me that with about a million members in the US, and all the strange policies like blood transfusions, informing authorities re child molestation, disfellowshipping, that it would be a big story. Especially with so many Witnesses that are depressed, or suicidal, or with the broken marriages, or children that die or those that are shunned.

Like one of those multi-episode news specials on CNN. Why don't they have those shows about JW's?

I guess Witnesses are not a big deal in the world of today.

because your tithes are being used as "hush money" to keep the bad publicity away from the public.

I remember the Watchtower had a frontpage article once dealing with 60 minutes or a similar programme. And I remember thinking that the coverage on the witnesses in that particular programme did not seem that bad at all. At the same time, the witnesses were facing a crusade of bad publicity in a northern european country, in all networks, radio, newspapers etc... And the policy of the watchtower was most of the time "no comments"... At the end the coordinator had to appear on national television (on the news) and he made a bad figure, he was caught in lying and that was the major news the next day. No mention of that in the yearbook....

I think Cameo is on the money. Just like the gag order placed on the 16 who got 60 million for sexual abuse in California. Legally the org. has been defending themselves for the last 130 years and I think they know who to pay off and who to shut the hell up.

It shouldn't suprize anyone these days that the media says whatever the hell they're told to, or told not to. They are just puppets. The internet is about the only place you can get the unfettered details where nobodies getting paid. That's my take anyhow.

Because no one CARES about the witnesses! They are already on the decline in the modern world they've only been around for about 15 minutes in a historical context and they are considered by anyone who's not directly tied to them to be a fringe cult group!

See to get a story on a major TV show that has national and worldwide viewership it has to be something that a LOT of people would be interested in and guess what witnesses aren't it! I know they seem important to US but to the rest of the world a story on dust bunnies would be more important!

puuullllleeessss guys!....hush money and payoff?......you gotta be kiddin me!........the subject line means that not only do dubs think WAY to much of themselves, but that tendency seems to linger in some of our ex-jw brains.............JW's are not even a pimple on a rhinos asss....now if they all go out and start burning down other churches, or arming themselves for a war......then they will get on 60 minutes.........oompa

You just answered your own question.

JWs just aren't "sexy", in the TV news sense of the word.

Preachers fornicatin' with whores? Polygamists with 16 wives in 19th century prairie dresses and 42 children? That's video gold.

Joe Average has his feelings hurt because his in-laws won't talk to him because he's disfellowshipped? Sorry, I know it's a big deal for Joe, but for ratings, that's a big yawn.

I am betting that the Washtowel Slaveholdery would sue anyone that attempted to do an objective story on the religion on a mainstream media. And the media would have an impossible time winning a case against people that make a living twisting the meanings of words to fit their needs.

I think the lawyers keep real busy making sure it doesn't happen, as well as the fact someone else already commented on............NOBODY CARES. I am surprised, to this day, how many people have never heard of JW's.

JWs mean nothing to people who haven't had their lives influenced by them. If all the JWs on earth died tomorrow, most of the world wouldn't care - if they even heard about it.

From a global perspective they are less than insignificant, and not worth the air time.
