Are you implying your wife needs the world to stop and you are the one who keeps going?

With most ailments, I can manage to make in to work. I have not called in sick for myself in about 10yrs (pretty healthy). However, that's all I can do. Can't come home and make dinner or clean just a bath and back to bed. I don't think you should try to work outside the home with highly contagious stuff like flu, fever and intestinal problems. It is pretty hard to take care of a small child when you have a stomach problem. I remember a few times hanging over a toilet and the baby crying and I could barely make it back to bed, but the baby needed fed or worse yet changed....yuk!

I think , when your sick you see the world differently too. My mind does not go unaffected. I wonder if other people have that same, I've been condemed thing, and wonder if this is what it is like being separated from god and then start to worry your going to die and begin a slow decent into hell for all the perceived wrongs you've done.

Is this the same with everyone? I think illness would be far better managed if you could control the garbage that has shaped your mind growing up and just realize your sick and it happens to everyone.

It used to be the same with me, Tyrone.

Once I grew to maturity, spiritually speaking, those things no longer bother me.

Why when people are sick, do some think its OK to go to work, church, school etc.? JW's are notorious for showing up at assemblies and KH's with fevers, wicked coughs, kids with measels, chicken pox, etc.

It is much more considerate to stay at home until you are no longer contagious.

I worked at an office once where the secretary to the head of accounting thought she was so important, she couldn't be missed.....she showed up with the stomach flu. Every 30 minutes she was running to the bathroom.....finally the boss came in and told her to go home. She was too weak to drive, so he asked me to take her in my car. I never drove so fast in all my life, with windows down and the air blasting. I was so pissed. I had a 2 seater car, and she sat not a foot away from me feverish and ill.

When I got back to work, I sprayed down the interior of my car with lysol. Everyone in the office wound up getting sick, except me.

STAY HOME.....and hope you feel better soon!

This is exactly what I was thinking Unconfused. I think people handle things different. Period. It also depends on what kind of sick it is.

knock on wood, I've only missed 1 day from work in 56 years that I can remember. And I had to be sent home from work because I was too sick to stand.

I have caught the budwiser blues in the past but I usually engineer that for the weekends.

A good book to read on the subject is "You cant afford the luxury of a negative thought."

I have sick days where I work but havent taken one yet.

I have been sick in my life and fortunately I have been sick on the weekends or my day off.

Your body can know when to get sick if you are in tune to it.

When I am sick it is situation normal around here. I have 3 kids and my husband works long hours. He never stays home to help if I am sick. He may come home "early", around 7 or later. And he'll bring dinner with him. That's about it.

Now when he's sick, he stays home and either in bed or on the couch. He gets those Man Colds, the life threatening ones.

I can handle a lot of things except those that affect the stomach and bowels...

I think some people can handle certain illnesses better than others..but those other people may be able to handle illnesses that the other person can't..does that make sense?

For example, I could handle having a cold or sore throat and cough much better than hubby, he would act like he was dying.I would get a fever and feel warm and cozy all over..he on the other hand would shake and his teeth would chatter. And yet when we got food poisoning from an assembly one time I was so sick I couldn't do anything but barely crawl to the toilet and yet he threw up a few times and was fine. I was weak for days. Different illnesses act different on each person. I would not blame anyone for complaining more when they get a certain illness because I may act even worsewhen I get a different one!
