Anyone ever do it? I only remember doing it once. I remember going to pick another witness up and his kids were watching an old Alice in Wonderland movie. I wished I could stay and Watch it rather than go out bothering people. I guess I was already mentally on the way out.

I quit going out on holidays years ago, no matter how much we were "encouraged" that it was a great time to go. I knew no one wanted us at their door, especially on those days, and I felt terrible for bothering them.

So many here want my name.

I did it once early on, and never again. That same year, I decided to
skip field circus on Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, Halloween, Memorial Day,
    Mother's Day, Father's Day, .

People don't want to be bothered when they are festive, hung over, enjoying family, or
    remembering their loved ones.

Yes, it sucked. Easter was worse, and New Years was insanity!

Never, under any circumstances. I always found it tacky to bother people on holidays, when they were with their families.

My father wasn't a jw so it wasn't an option. When I was out on my own and pioneering, I would go out in the morning but never in the afternoon. People did tend to be at home more and I kept it short. Later I just made sure I had enough time in that I wasn't pressured to go. I always pitied the brother who had to take the group out until I found out that most just made a brief appearance and then headed home for a feast and football.

"People don't want to be bothered when they are festive, hung over, enjoying family, or remembering their loved ones". I know people didn't like being bothered on a holiday but I think at that time I considered it a sign of Jehovah's approval when my neighbors were pissed off at me for doing Watchtowery things.

We went out every holiday. We went on Christmas and New Year's day. We went to cemeteries and pitched grave-side visitors on Memorial Day. My dad was so hardcore Watch Tower that if he was cut he'd bleed printer's ink.

The only time I ever saw him smile was at the Kingdom Hall. There he laughed and talked. At home he was sullen and silent. The only time he talked to me was when he was pissed off at me. I'd hear him giving a "talk" at the Kingdom Hall, and I almost couldn't think it was the same person I lived with.

Going out in service on any holiday is just the worst. By the time I grew up and had my own family, I never did that again. My husband always refused to lead the group on a holiday.
