Why do Jehovah's Witnesses pray to God?

When the bible claims there is only one mediator between God and Man, Jesus Christ....Isn't this considered hypocritical of their teachings?

    ?

If you mean that they teach that Jesus is only the mediator for the anointed; then what role does he play in the prayers of the other sheep.

    They teach both ideas.

*** w75 7/1 p. 402 par. 8 Coming to the Hearer of Prayer ***To communicate readily with the heavenly Father, one must accept Christ Jesus as Lord. Peace with God can come only through the appointed way, the ransom provision by the Lord Jesus. (Matt. 20:28; 1 Tim. 2:5, 6) He is the provision for approach to God in prayer and reconciliation with him. Jesus rightly declared: "No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) He is the "helper" that plays a vital role in our having access to the Hearer of prayer. (1 John 2:1, 2)

    *** br78 p. 13 What do They Believe? ***

Prayers must be directed only to Jehovah through Christ

    John 14:6, 13, 14; 1 Tim. 2:5

I think you've got a good point. They can't really have both teachings.

Password Protected....never thought about it, why would a member of the 'great crowd' pray through the mediator for the anointed?????

@insearchof - exactly. It doesn't make sense. When you point out to a JW that they don't have Christ as their mediator, they will almost always reply, "oh, but I do; I pray through him". The Bible does explain that prayers are addressed to God through Christ, but Christ is mediator between humans and God to bring about forgiveness of sins. Humans can't stand before God - or approach him in prayer - without Christ.

R&F JWs are, by this fact, not Christians; they do not have Christ as their mediator. And they should not be praying through Christ as they do not give him his proper position as mediator.

:Why do Jehovah's Witnesses pray to God?

That's easy. Dubs are scared shitless of Jehovah. Jehovah scares them more than Satan, demons and COs all put together.

They pray to appease Him and hope he won't nuke them along with just about everyone else when Jehovah has the biggest temper tantrum in the history of the Universe; and that's coming Real Soon Now(tm).

They continuously pray for the Governing Body, that's why. And considering the fishtailing course of the organization for the last century, these guys can use all of the prayer they can get.

That's a great question. Jesus said that nobody comes to the Father except through Him and He taught us how to pray:

    Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your Kingdom come,
    your will be done,
    on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
    Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
    Lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
    Now and for ever. Amen

Now, where do you see that we should include "Through Jesus Christ We Pray" in there? Jesus didn't say we should pray through Him. That's not the same as believing that He and the Father are One. Jesus is our Eternal Father as seen here:

"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6).

So, should we conclude that the JWs have two gods and two Fathers? Simply put, they skip Jesus altogether and want a relationship with the Father directly.

    Spot on Sacs!

In Jesus' own words, you cannot "skip" him (deny He is your mediator) and come to the Father,so all those JW prayers, like their preaching, are a monumental(and I stress the mental) waste of time !
