    Metatron says,

I continue to think that the final chapter if this sick organization may come about from the top losing interest in the

whole religion than from any rebellion at the bottom.

LOL that is funny, and could happen. They could also save their butts by hawking fanatical end-times zeal again, and dump all the old timers who have lazy, old fashioned Bad Attitudes.

These lazy parental figures at Bethel seem to have 3 choices:

    1. stay the way they are and milk out all the funds and good times and then dump on the kids,

    2. become more democratic and veer towards mainstream Christianity (I think Billy mentioned that would be their death-knell-I agree)

    3. milk the battle-in-the-heavens story, scaring the hell out of poorly educated publishers and extracting Jonestown-level loyalty from them. (They are too braindead for this anymore).

I attend a mainstream church and I agree with this. If the JW's try to mainstream a several things will happen:

They will realize they don't have any good guitar players.

They will realize none of them can sing.

There will be nothing to distinguish them from other religions, and bad music won't bring anybody through the door.

The kids (Ok I'm 57 and this would apply to me as well) will want to go someplace interesting and leave. The old folks will complain that its not like the old days when everybody knew who was in charge and they will leave.

Last one out the door of the KH can turn out the lights.

This is quite funny. You see, I talk a lot with a friend that serves sewers at Bethel and a couple of months ago he said to me "give the Society another 100 years and they will look about like the Catholic Church"....

I thought to myself that maybe he was only frustrated, but he might have a point....with the difference that the Catholic church has at least classy buildings and famous places you can visit...at least both are pretty good at covering child molesters. Maybe thats the point.

    LOL, JeffT:

Well, maybe they have....some of the kids at my hall are pretty good playing GUITAR HERO on the XBox....but they mostly play Heavy Metal and Satanic Music

I agree they are hopelessly mired in the 50's....the 1850's......can't wait for the new magazine to come out.......there is an article on sweeping your chimney and how charles dickens books are bad for you to read....other salient points are ....you might end up being materialistic and wanting to open your own toffee shop or have your own horse and cart

The WTS tries hard to paint its history as being something other than a series of successive personality cults, but in truth this is all it has ever been. Since Freddie died, there is no larger-than-life personality at the high levels of the org that the r&f ooh and ahh over. Brooklyn is nothing but a faceless, Orwellian "Ministry of Truth".

For most of my JW tenure (1990's), I couldn't even imagine trying to bring somebody else into such a colorless, petrified religion. And it keeps becoming ever more so.
