"A kid is allowed to wear a t-shirt in schools promoting hatred towards homosexuals"-- source please? most schools now are so pc that would not be allowed.

It wasn't her place to tell the kids anything about at all about Christmas one way or another. All the schools around here can't even use the word 'Christmas', must be 'holiday'. She was just being mean and no doubt feels self righteous about the whole thing.

This might be the translation into dubdumb:

God isn't real' - JW banned from congregation after TMS blunder
    Reporter: local for Awake
    Date online: 11/12/2008

A JW has been banned from a congregation after telling the attendees that God wasn't real.

A congregation of about 70 were left with their dreams dashed when the 4th talk conductor blurted out that their celestial hero was in fact made up, and it was ordinary who really took care of their needs Furious elders stormed into the congregation and made complaints after the members told them what they had heard, and an apology was sent out by the TMS conductor, Angelo McCormick.

The JW has been barred from working at the Oldham congregation and a complaint has been lodged with WTS.

Confused congregation members have now been given extra studies on Drawing closer to God and have sent letters to WTS HQ.

A spokesman from circuit said: “I can confirm that the JW was a member of the Rochdale and Oldham congregation "As part of our investigation into the matter, we have spoken to the congregation who have asked that the JW is not used for future talks at the TMS.”

The apology letter from the congregation read: “Profuse apologies to all our members and WTS HQ "I have spoken to the BOE concerned and have completed a complaint form. The members are unscathed and are back on track thanks to the ‘magic’ of our BOE and the lovely studies we have all appreciated this week.”

    Cheers

Ok let's get the facts straight.

Firstly this was in the UK not the US - so it's not "Only in the US"

The teacher was banned from one school and a complaint lodged with her agency - so she was a supply teacher filling in for absence.

I agree with her ban/suspension from that school.

I don't think it's anything to do with "The Truth" it's to do with using some DISCRETION and understanding other peoples expectations.
It might be true that the Headteacher in the school was fat and ugly - but to tell the kids that would be unacceptable.

Lots of people, families and neighbours have different standards and perspectives but we don't go around pointing them out.
We just mind our own business and shut up about it.
It's called good manners and respecting other peoples standpoint.

Oops sorry about that, my mistake.

There is a difference between a opinion and a fact.

Court Sides with Student on Right to Wear Scripture-Bearing Shirt

    By Jim Brown
    August 19, 2005

(AgapePress) - A federal judge has told an Ohio school district it can no longer bar a middle school student from wearing a t-shirt with a Christian message.

Judge George Smith has ruled that Sheridan Middle School in Thornville violated the constitutional rights of student James Nixon by prohibiting him from wearing a t-shirt bearing a quote from the Bible verse John 14:6. The front of the shirt reads: "Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.'" The back of the shirt contains the statements: "Homosexuality is sin. Islam is a lie. Abortion is murder."

Nixon's attorney, James Nelson of the Orlando-based American Liberties Institute, says the decision handed down by Judge Smith has a "broad, sweeping significance," especially for students in the southern district of Ohio, many of whom he says were watching for the outcome.

"Other students and parents had been waiting for this decision to know whether or not their own children and students may now wear their shirts," Nelson shares.

Nelson asserts the judge's ruling sets a persuasive precedent. "We believe that Judge Smith really worked through the issues well, in a way that some courts don't," the attorney says. "He truly picked apart the precedent and the cases from the Supreme Court and other jurisdictions and tried to make a very comprehensive and coherent opinion which could be utilized by other courts across the country."

The attorney feels that due to the jurisdiction of Smith's court over other schools and school districts, the ruling will allow students to freely express their viewpoint on the same issues and to wear the same t-shirt to school.

Interesting to read the responses, as always you always gain by getting other peoples viewpoint on things. What do I think?

I would not tell other people's kids that it is all a fib..I respect the parent's right to bring up their own family as they see fit. If I were a parent though, I would not want to tell fairy stories. If they learn that you misled them about Santa, why should they believe you when you teach them anything else?

Firing her is kind of harsh. Maybe she just figured the kids already knew.

Santa IS real. If you don't believe in him, he doesn't come to your house. That's all.

My old boyfriend told me that he was told there was no Santa when he was 9 years old~by some bratty JW kid in his school!

The parents who told their children about Santa have the right to decide when to tell their children, "the rest of the story." The teacher should be glad she's only banned from that one school and not completely fired. Teacher's have no right to force their belief systems on their students.

Give them another season to figure it out themselves.

To figure out... that we are systematically LYING to them? Why are we supporting the lie in the first place?
