I heard about this on the radio this morning.

I think she was out of line and damaged the last Christmas these 7-year-olds will have believing in Christmas.

If the kids were 9 or 10, I'd say "OK to set them straight". But if they are only 7. Give them another season to figure it out themselves.

I figure most kids have older siblings that have clued them in..............if they haven't learned from some other kid at school.

I agree. Completely out of line. It would be a mistake for the parents to try to instill that Santa was indeed real after that revelation ... might as well explain it to them. Still, that's a bummer deal just before Christmas.

I think if you're sending your grade school aged children off to school still believing in Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy and Jehovah God, your just asking for them to be ridiculed by those who've already figured out it's a sham...

JWs and other kill-joys will love this and probably even quote it among themselves. Look, we all know there are lots of things that children are told in their younger years that are not in accord with the observable truth, but who makes the final decision? I think it should be parents - not school teachers.

Santa is a clear example of a make-believe story, but where do we stop? In my view, the fundamentalist God of the Bible is make-believe, but I don't think that gives me the right - if I were a school teacher - to promote my own belief.

I think the teacher is there to be impartial....... religiously.... teaching tolerance.

I am a bit torn about her fate as a teacher in that school, I think that is to be decided by her community.

Yea....most kids are in 2nd grade are figuring out Satan Claus is fake but several don't stop believing until 3rd or by summer before 4th.

Let them learn the real truth from the outset. However, that shouldn't stop them from enjoying the story line or the holiday. They can still pretend that there is a Santa, and set up the stockings knowing full well that the parents are behind that.

I learned that when I was 11. In fact, I had the share of helping "Santa" putting the items in the stocking and under the tree. It didn't stop me from enjoying Christmas, including the Santa items, thereafter.

This is ridiculus, only in the U.S. A kid is allowed to wear a t-shirt in schools promoting hatred towards homosexuals and a teachers gets fired after telling the truth, nice.
