What I do Oompa is I have Norton 2009 running in the background which blocks most attempts but even if something does get through that shouldn't
I have PC Tools Inter-net Security 2009 in my system that I can start up and run, its not necessary to have it running constantly like Norton , because it will slow down your system,
but when you think you've run into a problem its there and ready to you.
PC Tools Inter-net Security 2009 is respected in the industry as one if not the best of its kind, it performs itself stronger over the majority of programs.
One other thing that I should say is that the new Norton 2009 doesn't bog down computer systems like it used to and its fairly strong, so its a good choice
of an anti-virus to run constantly.

If I understood it right, you need disable system restore and then run your virus scanner/do a cleanup?

For the popups, switch to firefox, and set it to stop them. There are a couple of sites that can scan your puter for you, from the site. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/

Actually you are only free of the virus that manifested itself on your comp. Any invisible ones that came with the active one could still be there doing their thing, that's why I prefer a good format. Good luck with that thing. W.Once
