Actually, very few jw parents every studied with their children and it wasn't because of lack of time..........few adults do personal study....why would they study with their children. They can count the time and said they did it.

I'll bet you a fine English pound that the articles do appear. With our economy that £1 bet looks good very good for me.

Didn't they used to tell you to NOT study on your own? They were afraid you would see the light misinterpret what was written?

I know they said to study with your children..but..I do remember someone saying not to study on your own..except for assigned reading....

but I'm willing to bet a pretty fair number will actually start to study the Bible, rather than studying books or magazines about the Bible.

    Nope,

JW's only know how to study the bible by way of "bible based publications". To them that IS studying the bible.

In time, there will be articles about family worship night where they will make suggestions. "perhaps you could study......" then the CO will have a demonstration at an assembly showing a happy christian family studying together. This will become "regulated" in time. No doubt the elders will be given direction from the CO to examine each family heads study report. After all, between a husband and wife with 3 or 4 kids that could be quite a few studies the WTS could use to inflate their reports....

Sir82, I congratulate you on your optimism but, with all due respect, there's a greater likelihood of the governing body doing away with disfellowshipping than of the average JW bothering to pick up the Bible and studying it.

Apathy not apostasy is the biggest problem within the organization. Once it becomes obvious to the governing body that JWs do anything but study on the "family study night", they'll issue a programme that the rank and file are told to follow.

THey won't study anything except the TV shows they always missed on Tuesday nights. Or they could surf the net and stumble upon JWD :D

i think you are a little out there on this one sir..... i think the only, and i mean only people that will actually have a "study night" are the elder families that are crazy enough to already be having one. and maybe the occasional wacky pioneer (the middle aged loner, or the young CO in training- pioneer). no meeting = night off.--------------------------------------- btw, any BOE letters getting sent out these days, or are we just not hearing of them?

No, I have to disagree....That may have been the case in the old days, but now they only know how to study with W T publications, reading the Bible raises too many q's that Dad cannot answer . If they do it at all it will be a "study"from a paperback of the WTS..

That is until Man U are on the box on Tuesday night, then it will be dropped (U K posters know what I mean )

Hopefully, most will "study" an apostate web site or the Bible itself. However, something tells me that a majority are going to study what's on TV that night or the latest movie rental.

It sure would be a dull evening if all they did was what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger wants them to. Study washtowels, study the Washtowel Teach book, practice field circus presentations, act out Washtowel dramas that may or may not be Bible based, and the like. Or perhaps playing that Bible Washtowel trivia game. What a waste of time.
