Gore is hypocritical and fake. Day After Tomorrow is exploitative Hollywood. As far as demagogues and entertainment industries go, exaggerating exploitation of a de facto situation/disaster is _normal_.
The show-me-the-money part of this debate is incontrovertible evidence that the thermohaline cycle is slowing. It's big and will be hard to mistake.
But until and if that happens, it continues to be the opposite of stupid to vigorously explore alternative fuels, for too many reasons other than carbon footprint.
More proof of Global Warming

That's interesting, because your ridicule of the good science behind global warming is exactly like the "intelligent design" camps "we-have-scientist-too!" crys.
Really? So "our scientists are better than yours nyah nyah".
Do you realize the IPCC report was only signed by 52 scientists, the majority of which had nothing to do with climate science?

How do we know there will be no milk in the new system? Udder destruction. gaffah gaffah.

I think you guys didnt get the memo. We call it climate change now not global warming.
1. The earth warms up/the earth cools down. It does this on its own. Global climate has changed bunches o' times without our help. It'll do it a bunch more times after we have been replaced on this planet by the next evolutionary prime species.
2. It is a bad idea to shit in our own backyard.
3. There is lots of money/control to be made/had by scaring people.
4. Better yet trick them into being at fault for normal changes to earthine clime.

Well Six, your previous generalizations about the "stupidity" of those who see major cooling trends as contrary evidence to the global warming trend....
Wait, so you're saying that the article in the original post about the guy freezing to death was describing an event coming from a "major cooling trend"?
What other "major cooling trends" should I, as a citizen of planet earth where the "Top 11 Warmest Years On Record Have All Been In Last 13 Years", be aware of?

Homerovah the Almighty
Its easy to pinpoint climate changes that are occurring around the globe as the media has done so well , but what I see lacking in this story is the wide and examined science of why
these changes are actually occurring.
The claim that its the burning of fossil fuels and the increase of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere therefore causing a thinning of the ozone layer
is theoretically weak in scientific terms.
The main argument that is going against this theory/science is these apparent climate changes are a natural cycled occurrence that mother nature is doing on its own without
mans intervention at all.
Until this has been throughly established and related out to the population there is going to be debates and confusion on this matter.
Hey I'm all for cleaner air and if this quasi science helps to bring forth and implement that agenda then maybe we should just let it be and go along for the ride for the
better of everyone.

Well you should be aware of how far back the records go. If we had human records going back for hundreds of thousands of years, we would have a good amount of data to determine if this was a human caused anomaly or part of a normal repeating trend. But if the actual recorded temps only go back about 100 years or so, that would not be much of a baseline in the scheme of things, now would it? It also doesn't help that our top-flight scientific organizations are putting out bad data and being called on it by the peanut gallery. Nasa said October 2008 was the warmest October on record, the morons were using September data. With that kind of competence, claims such as "Top 11 Warmest Years On Record Have All Been In Last 13 Years" become suspect.
Here is the 2008 goof:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/11/12/corrected-nasa-gistemp-data-has-been-posted/
and they goofed their numbers up in 2007:
http://www.livescience.com/environment/070820_gw_mismatch.html
2007 ended up being a colder year. One particular comment from 2007 in the second link gets my attention:
"Unless we have a big volcano [volcanoes spurt aerosols, which have a cooling effect], we're not going to see another cold year for a long time," Schmidt told LiveScience.
Bwahahah. 2008 is looking like a colder year also.

"3. There is lots of money/control to be made/had by scaring people. "
And then again there are frightening realities.
There is no toughness or fortitude in not being able to look frightening realities in the eye and dealing them as the evidence shows they are, not as we wish them to be.

There are frightening realities, and there are frightening realities. Historically, a much more common frightening reality than a climate catastrophe is those in power constructing a crisis as an excuse to extend control.

Uh, no one claims that, dude. Where did you get that idea?
