I think that aspect is totally absent in occidental (US?) mainstream "spirituality".

You are wrong, read Meister Eckhart for example. There are other examples.

this does not mean there is a spiritual spot in the brain this just means that people who are unsure of themselves are more likely to head towards religion. but that is extremely obivous. when someone such low self esteem they want to feel better to belong and be loved. hence door way to a cult. its a big family... suppsoedly anyways.. untill you ddo something wrong and they kick you out like dirt off thewir boots

As an atheist I have always suspected that believers had a specialized cluster of brain cells that allowed them to "feel god" or be "spiritual". I always jokingly called it the "God Pod".

I'm relieved to find out that the situation is the exact opposite!

It is the believers who are lacking active brain cells. Now why doesn't this supprise me?
