In my whole long life I have only been to 2 new years parties. I don't like drinking and I have always been afraid to be driving on the roads during the holidays. I have not celebrated xmas in my adult life. (not to say I haven't attended a thanksgiving dinner or two.)
I would have made a good JW. I am glad they didn't "get me."
I drive a cab for a living. Nuff said.

All the kids stayed up. We watched the countdown on Dick Clark's Rockin Eve and toasted the new year with sparkling grape juice and kisses.

I didnt do anything this year. Last year I volunteered to work the local First Night celebration at the community college.... nice for what it was I guess, but I was kinda bored....it was great for the younger kids esp......but lame compared to the one in St. Louis... I should have went last night to the St Louis event......but it was cold outside.... though there were inside events, I just didnt feel like dealing with traffic and really didnt feel like going alone.
So I stayed home, me and the cat... made a basic nothing fancy dinner...didnt even drink any wine... kept CNN on mute until about 10 min til midnight eastern and again central time.... finished a big fat book I was reading (5th of the Earth Children series)........ listened to some idiot shooting a gun outside...and went to bed...
my life = boring.

I had a boring New Years Eve.... me and the cat at home last night... I made a basic not fancy dinner...didnt even drink any alcohol..just wasnt in the mood for it.
I had CNN on mute until about 5 min until midnight eastern (and then again central my time zone)..but could Kathy Griffith and Anderson Cooper be any more obnoxious?
I stayed up finishing a big fat book (5th of the Earth Children series).... listened to some idiots in my 'hood shooting guns off.... went to bed shortly after midnight..
last year I was a volunteer at the local First Night celebration at the community college I attend... it was alright...young kids looked like they had fun...but I was bored most of the time.....I got assigned to 2 boring venues....... I should have went to the St, Louis version this year...it is always entertaining I hear... but I didnt feel like fighting traffic (and the local light rail service has service cut backs..and were not running past midnight..not even for special events.,.... no wonder the system is broke)..and I really didnt feel like going alone.....

We are just staying home with the family. Twilight zone marathon on Scifi. Rum and coke on the coffee table. All good.

Sick here too! Babysat Jada so my daughter could bring in the new year with her BF and she tells me today they both fell asleep before midnight. My son came home from out of town, laid down at seven and asked me to wake him up in an hour to go to party, I wake him up and he says, he is gonna sleep, too difficult to think about driving home after drinking or finding a place to sleep at the party.
So we are the big partiers around here!!!!
Seems like I am sick around the first every year. I think the Christmas stress, even with not doing big celebrations, wears me down. Looking forward to things getting back to "normal" whatever that is.

Never did much on New Year's Eve; hated being on the road on a night guaranteed to have a large percentage of drunk drivers.
Went to bed early again with my hubby.
