Hmmm, I read that paragraph on page 17. Very incomplete story... thus leaving lots of gaps to try to fill in. Since it refers to "her assignment", I assume she's dispatched as a "special pioneer" who will receive money from the Corporation. If she were young and skilled, she would have easily been able to get a good job and support herself better than living off the Corporation's crumbs. A name instantly came to mind on who this might be.
Should I use full names? I'll just call her Jessica B. And the "B" doesn't stand for "Brooklyn", although that's where she's lived for many, many years. I didn't know her well, but although she's called "single", I thought she was a widow. She's in her fifties and unskilled. Back in the day, Bethel made many promises about how they cared for those who'd made sacrifices for the bOrg. Armageddon was so close, and the JWs growing so fast that headquarters needed all the spiritual people it could get. Now Bethel is getting rid of these "worn-out models". The clear reason is that Armageddon is never coming and the corporation can't afford to keep these aging workers on the payroll. So off to the field to help "harvest" the massive 2% growth that's coming in almost annually in the USA. Since the bOrg will be paying her to 'special pioneer', they'll send her off to Podunk where there are lots of problems and she will be desperate to get free of 'special pioneering' obligations by leaving the assignment for greener pastures, and Watchtower will be officially free of any obligation or liability for Jessica B. and her years wasted in Crooklyn.
After her unsuccessful two weeks of searching for accommodations that she could get for the budget of almost nothing, the CO screamed at the BoE to get her something. One of the elders found a house he could rent her for a minimal fee. He'll have all the chickens moved out of that chickenhouse by the time Jessica gets her stuff packed and moved to Podunk.
Todd and Leslie, at the top of page 17, must be R., also from Brooklyn. Nice couple. Sky-daddy better take really good care of them or they'll turn apostate like I did.
That whole section is propaganda indeed. Jesus would call WTBTS "white-washed graves". When I left, which was before the official announcement of "reassigning" workers to the field, already there had been several that I personally knew that were "encouraged" to leave because of health problems. And, or course, Bethel Office asked them to turn in their "signed 30 day notice" so the Corporation would have legal protection against any illegal firing and liability issues.
Feel the Love.
